So, I'm still waiting for first contact on my March 1 re-application (obviously) and given the massive 4–6-month delays in livescan returns I decided to go ahead and do it this week thinking that it would complete around the time I will receive a call for interview. CA and FBI completed same day, as usual... and firearms cleared the following day lol.

Got some news for those who were denied prior to the Supreme Court Ruling for insufficient good cause.

I spoke to someone directly in the CCW unit and they stated that if you got denied before the Supreme Court came out with the ruling, you still have to wait that one year mark because you were denied before the ruling came out.

Huge bummer for those of you who applied again before the ruling came out.

            Just to rephrase it's

IF YOU GOT DENIED BEFORE THE RULING CAME OUT YOU STILL HAVE TO WAIT THE YEAR MARK TO APPLY

                See my experience on this.

I looked but could not find any state statute or department written policy requiring a one year wait. My march 2022 rejection letter (for insufficient good cause) did not mention the need to wait a year. Does anyone know where that one year wait period came from (other than being informally told so by a CCW staff)?

Because you were denied prior the ruling they didn't violate the ruling. So they stated you have to wait 1 year to reapply still.

If I recall correctly, when LASD first began issuing, they reached out to recent denials if they wished to proceed. I don't believe it was a full year later.

If submitting an application now is the Good Cause area left blank? I do not see an updated application.

You still have to write something. Just don't say self defense. Make an effort just incase if in the future something does change.

Sheriff Villanueva stated this on the last two Facebook live. He said he checked with the CA DOJ and they instructed him that you need to wait for a year.
