My post above had nothing to do with your situation. Mine, and yours are still in progress, (June apps). There is no GC standard anymore so that point is moot. I only mentioned that its nice to see a "date" that is finally getting to late Sept applications. This thread keeps track of those details.

The church one is a little bit comical (in the darkest of humor kind of way) because my church pastor just asked me to apply for a CCW (I'm a former LEO and an usher) after one of our members was murdered by a criminal while visiting his mother's church 2 miles from us.

So basically, bodyguards are going to be unarmed almost everywhere. I wonder how the elite are going to like that? All it does is create a whole new list of "gun free" kill zones for criminals.

Torrance resident here, is worth applying with TPD or should I go straight to LASD? I know the Sherriff said you should apply with your local PD but as long as it's still allowed it seems like going straight to LASD saves a step of beuracracy. I have no idea how TPD compares to LASD.

Go straight to LASD. Unless things changed with Torrance, you will need to apply (money), get finger printer (money) just to have them tell you do not qualify. Torrance will not tell you "NO" until you pay all fees and get results from background check. You lose money and time. Been there and done that.

I would apply through TPD, As long as you have a clean background they have no reason to deny you and if they do, Sue them.
