      Personal check?

In the Application Process Section it says:

“A $30 non-refundable cashier’s check or money order made payable to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) should be included with the application.”

However, in the License Issuance section it says:

      “LICENSE ISSUANCE
When the applicant has completed their firearm training course, send a copy of the completed and signed Shooting Proficiency form to CCW_Unit@lasd.org . The CCW Coordinator will contact the applicant to schedule a pick-up date for their license to carry a concealed weapon.

On the day of pickup the applicant is required to bring the following:

Check or money order in the amount of $120 made payable to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD).
      View Terms and Conditions.

The License Holder agrees to follow all Terms of Use and maintain good moral character at all times. They must not engage in criminal activities, or conduct themselves in any way other than as responsible and law abiding citizens. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has the right to suspend or revoke a license if it is notified by the DOJ that the licensee is prohibited by state or federal law from owning or purchasing a firearm, or if the license holder engages in any criminal conduct or otherwise violates the Terms of Use.”

There may be a new payment policy whose implementation did not make it to all relevant parts of the website. It is wise to bring a cashier’s check or money order.

Though I wouldn't be surprised if the cynical 9th circuit judges rushed out a decision before SCOTUS rules, in hopes that SCOTUS won't want to take another gun case right away after Bruen. So any mag capacity case would have to start from scratch under whatever new standard Bruen sets, if any. This concern is tempered by the fact that SCOTUS is still holding a very similar magazine case out of NJ, ANJRPC. They have taken no action on it either way for months.
Ninth circuit just published en banc opinion upholding the magazine ban.

Damn. Freedom week was nice while it lasted.

Appeals court upholds California’s ban on large-capacity gun magazines, saying it does not significantly interfere with the right to self-defense.

I see. I guess it was too much to hope for them to wait for SCOTUS to do their thing with the NJ lawsuit

Right, I should have said “ANJRPC is being held, presumably to be GVRed after a NYSRPA decision.”

Bottom line: no difference, we still probably have at least half a year until a Duncan decision; more likely at least twice that.
Foolish me to think CA9 en banc would care what SCOTUS says before deciding for themselves….

Oh, well: on to CA9 full court en banc appeal (two months to be denied), then SCOTUS appeal (after MLK Day 2022). Granted and scheduled for next fall. Since it is factually so close to ANJRPC it gets decided per curiam (like Caetano), in 2023 March?

ETA: actually it’s early enough that our side could skip CA9 full court en banc appeal and go directly to SCOTUS. It could hold it to decide it along with ANJRPC, probably through GVRs in June.

I think they DO care what SCOTUS says, at least in the sense it they wanted to decide for themselves and get their anti-2A decision on the books before a SCOTUS ruling makes that more difficult. I don't know what other 2A decisions are still pending in the 9th, but I expect them to get rushed out ASAP.
I wish today's liberals could understand: You cannot be generous by giving away other peoples' money and you cannot demonstrate your virtue by your willingness to give up other peoples' rights.

The more time I spend on this forum, the more sense kcbrown makes.

If I live in the City of Los Angeles, literally, then I should be applying to LAPD, right?

No. LAPD signed a MOU with LASD allowing LASD to accept applications from LA City residents.
