I was informed there are 6 deputies handling the interviews and putting the packages together for final approval. They are slammed, running back to back interviews every hour and are receiving 20 new applicants/week each to contact.

Given the size of the county and the snowballing size of applications coming in, this goes a long way to explain why wait times are processing more and more slowly. If you haven't applied yet or just recently applied, get comfortable and stay patient.

From the conversation I had with the deputy, TECHNICALLY, yes. But, it was also clear that if you pass through the interview (so, good-to-go with your GC), then as long as your livescan comes back as it should, you're golden.

I'm not sure why you're so worried. But yes. There's always a chance you get denied. This might blow your mind...but even when you get your permit, they can always revoke as well.

Does that mean LASD will? Probably not? But again, if you passed the interview with flying colors and your BGC came back fine, you should be ok.

Not that I know of.

The nearest county that does that is San Bernardino for some odd reason

They might, I had to provide pay stubs, business card and showed I was in good standing w/ the company.

I imagine it would be more strict if you worked at a security firm like Alliance Security or something.

One of the deputy told the other at my interview to never call employer because they had someone got fired for it.

I really hope this is true. I've been going back and forth on whether to sign up for training. My understanding is that once you pay that class fee there are no refunds. It would really suck to get denied after I paid the app fee, livescan fee, and class fee. That's nearly $400 down the drain.

I mean the $400 as a total figure. $30 for the app, $120 for the livescan, and $250 for the class.

Aegis Authority is the company I am planning to use for the class! I'll sign up tomorrow, I guess.

$400 is a rip off. Call Steve at Aegis Authority. His class is $247. He will tell you the same thing, once you get cleared for the live scan you can take the class as long as you don’t have Backgound issues.

I think he’s referring to the cumulative total (app fee+ live scan+ training > ~$400)

But I agree, as Fluffy said, if one’s record is clean and approved for livescan, then you’ve passed the GC hurdle.

Changes In CCW application Procedure?

Hello everybody, I'm new here and trying to navigate my way to get a CCW.
I live in eagle Rock, that is Los Angeles, so according to what I read at the LASD and here in the forum, I'm supposed to apply with LAPD, get rejected and then apply with LASD.
HERE IS THE NEW BIT:
Today I called the LAPD at the phone number that they provide for the CCW application, I told that I was calling in regard of the CCW application and the detective who was on the phone told me: "You know that you are going to be rejected don't you?!?!" I told him that I was aware of the fact and he interrupted me and said " I know you need the rejection letter because you want to apply with LASD.... You no longer need to apply with us first, you can directly apply with LASD".

I was wondering if any of you is aware of any change in the agreement between LAPD and LASD.
