      @m1abob

      I'm always a advocate for more training. I know most people are preaching for The Firing Line class at $150. But I felt like I got a lot of value out of my expensive course that was 16 hours long with TRB.

      I think CCW requires a lot of constant training.

      My wife and I are going back to take advanced CCW courses such as low light conditions, shooting through transitional spaces, shooting while sitting down (chair/desk/car), shooting while you're on your back laying down.

      A lot of what TRB teaches isn't shooting mechanics it's more about thinking in stressful situations.

      I'm always going to be an advocate for more training.

        Once you take this course, do you have a place you can train these techniques on a regular basis?

        If you don't, I highly recommend that you find a means to and train often. Taking a training class to demonstrate proper technique is great but that's all its gonna be... a demostration. Gun handling, in order to be effective in stressful situations, has to be at the subconscious level. That requires a great deal of repetition. Taking 1 or 2 classes a year will not get you there. Something to consider.

          Yup absolutely. We often go to R66. We've been told to check out Raaguhes. Heading out to BRCC tomorrow to train.

          But yeah the class just serves as the foundation. It's on the students to practice and become proficient in what was taught.

            Not true about TRB. I'm an instructor who's taken their low light group class on how to properly use a light, and just got back from a private lesson with Brendon at Raahauge, where he reworked a lot of my grip and understanding of grip mechanics, for better recoil mitigation and accuracy with rapid fire.

            An an instructor who believes in being a student for life, so the skills stay sharp and keep updated, not stagnant, I've trained with TRB, Artemis, Triggermasters and All Safe in OC, and Double Tap and Medic Up in LA, and TRB is as top notch as any training center, and TRB emphasizes a lot of mechanics in addition to simulating stressful defensive shooting drills.

              @guymention

              Ah understood. That makes sense for private lessons focusing on each user's grip and whatever you're looking for. The general CCW class maybe had about an hour on grip and was more focused on training people to be "thinkers" not shooters.

              Agree, TRB are a great group of guys with great training cirrciculum

                      I'm with you brother and you do make a valid point.. The types of shooting scenarios you speak of are all practiced in idpa and uspa.. Especially IDPA.. I compete 3 to 4 times a month.. I average around 9,000 to 10,000 rounds a year.. That's why I had to start reloading lol... We shoot moving targets, shoot from cars, shoot from our knees, bellies and even rolled over to our side.. Granted getting on the floor is not frequent but everything else is implemented in these competitions. So for me spending money on training with techniques I already implement would be waste of money and time.. A better training would be to rent your own bay for a day and practice what you learned in class over and over again.. To where most of it becomes muscle memory.. That's pretty much what idpa and uspsa implement.. I highly recommend attending at some point.. It's great training and lots of fun..

                      Where I would spend my $$ would most likely be some advanced tactical combative training from someone who has lived that life.. Someone who has actually engaged in combat long enough to be able to speak from their experiences and pass that down to me.. Now that I will spend lol !!

                        Alright here it goes.

                        Sent Application 3/11

                        Called on 3/18 telling me I need LAPD, so I call same day to schedule a LAPD interview for June.

                        LAPD Calls me on 4/13 stating policy changed and I will be contacted by LASD

                        LASD Calls 4/21

                        Interview 4/23

                        Livescan 4/23

                        Livescan Clears 5/20

                        Email 5/20 for training and have sent in certifications the same day

                        Notified on 5/21 they will be wrapping up my file then be contacted for pick up soon.

                        Initially a Light Green Good Cause, but Deputy insisted I use my Yellow since it existed. I also want to state that I discussed with him about LG gc with USPSA and expensive guns and he said absolutely. He EMPHASIZED that documentation goes a VERY long way. Whether or not you think it may be arbitrary to getting a CCW. Paperwork wins over stories. Any article/data/statistic that, in any way, relates to you, USE it. Like many of the people here have said, if you aren't willing to do the research, CCW isn't for you.

                            Part of my GC is USPSA. I have my classification record and records of the matches I've shot for the last 3 years. I also photos of all my competition guns. I also have my membership for the gun club I belong to where I am an NRA certified RSO.

                            What other documentation would you guys recommend that I bring that may back this GC?

                                ummmm bro you are good to go lol.. I'm sure everything you just discussed is enough to go on. I included a picture of me getting a plaque in sacramento.. Mainly to show that I do travel around california. But again you are more than qualified with the documents you mentioned. at least in my opinion.
