The next month is really going to certify the very questionable case of LA County really being light green or not. We are about a week away from hitting all the submissions that will mostly be light green. I am skeptical but remain hopeful. Looks like as long you really are clean of any negative history and at least yellow, it's a high probability of issue. Zero admissions of light green as of recently make me think we just aren't quite there yet but I am praying for a miracle.

I'm in that light green pile. Based on timelines posted, I should get a call for the interview in the next 3 weeks, if its gonna happen. You will definitely see a post from me the second I hang up the call. Fingers and toes crossed.

I think we've seen a few light green GCs pass already. I think you guys will be fine. But it will definitely cement LA's status as LG for sure.

Hopefully next week all the guys who submitted first week/second of April get calls!

Emailed my training certificate and shooting proficiency on Sunday and received email from CCW unit that they received it and will complete my profile and reach out when ready to pickup.

How long does this usually take?

From the older posts, it seemed some people were able to pickup within a couple of days.

Mine took 3-4 weeks. They are SLAMMED. It will be the longest time of your life, but once you have that card in hand, it will be worth it.

No CGN members have told me they’ve been issued using only Light (or Dark) Green GCs. But I’ve had over half a dozen tell me (or post) someone they know has, or the trainer they used said other students have, or the LASD interviewer told them LASD now accepts Light Green GCs. Unfortunately most LA people who contact me have Light Red GCs. Some are Yellow. Very few have been Light Green.

I shared my info (anonymously) with baggss and he agreed we should stick our necks out to get Light Green people to apply. Otherwise we may be stuck in a “chicken or egg” dilemma. (No LG people apply because the map shows Yellow. The map stays Yellow because no LG people apply....)

We’ll watch the forum closely and we can flip it back to Yellow if indicated.

Plus, as I’ve said before I always see GCs get approved that are more liberal than the county’s color, and see ones that match the county’s color get denied.

Last, it costs only $30 to get a GC decision.

Since this is CalGuns after all, every CGN LA Co resident should at least be able to use AND PROVE (range receipts, club dues/membership card, photos, gun purchase records, etc), the following GC (customized for your guns and situation):

So far 2 CGNers have PMed me that LASD accepted their Light Green (Recreational risks) GCs involving several thousand dollars worth of cash and/or equipment. That’s all I’ll say for now.

so we are officially officially light green? amazing!!!!

I'm a competitive shooter in IDPA and USPSA.. I'm not sure if I carry $10,000 worth of guns and ammo lol.. But I did read somewhere that competitive shooting is apparently in the light green category.. Although I do carry at least two to three off roster guns and with the cost of ammo,, About $1 a round..

By the way the burbank location ccw class is only $150 and $20 additional gun.. Not a bad price..Some of the classes I looked up are $250 and up as well as it being a 2 day 16 hour total class.. ouch.. Now for those who have no firearms experience, then I say go for it.. For those who are very knowledgeable, I'd prefer the minimum requirements to get this out of the way and save a few bucks for the pocket . 8 hours is the minimum requirements for lasd, at least that's what it says on the website.

congrats to those of you who have been approved and don't forget to practice strong hand and weak had shooting.. Life is tricky.. you might not be able to use both hands depending on the situation.. people forget this and well I like to remind them as well as me.. Get a good airsoft (blow back) gun and practice at home... it's the same motor skills.
