There are 3 of us with similar timelines and none of us have been contacted. I wouldn't worry about it. It'll be at least 9 months until they contact you unless you're lucky like that one member who already had his interview. But for us mere mortals it'll be at least until April 2023 before they contact us.

Just as POOPonYOU mentioned... I'm on the same boat as well. I applied back in July 2022 to LASD. There has been a whole mix up within this thread where others who applied to LA-PD commented on here and got some hopes up with their timeline, but not knowing there is a thread for LAPD timeline.

My timeline is in my signature. I'm not going to be too worried of when they will contact me because at least I know I will be contacted some day being a Long Beach resident I have a better hope with LASD than waiting for LBPD to update their application system (which they are still stalling on).

Apparently applications to LASD is going to be processed and assigned to an investigator in the order it's been received.

I completely agree with you as I think it's chaotic organization. We can compare other states that receive apps from other state citizens and also their own citizens and process them for the most part in about a month. This is just their lack of issuance for so many years that has presented this long line for us. I do however think there is a fix but frankly why would they want to fix this? The goal of all politicians and law enforcement here in Cali is to limit firearms as much as they can. You put in a staff of 10-12people at LASD. Run 2-3 processing initial apps, 2-3 approving the apps and pushing out the proceed to training and 2-3 people processing the trading docs. And finally 2 people setting the pick up time and issuance 5 days a week. Guarantee you the backlog turns into 6 months quickly... For a while I didn't think mine was going fast enough and in previous posts you see me ranting about it but now that I'm at the end and just waiting for a pick up call I realize how many people are really frustrated even more than I was. I feel for the sheriff's or sheriff that is doing these processes. I'm sure they didn't become cops to sit and take care of paperwork all day for us schmo's

This question should be posted in the FFL section. My 2 cents and again don't take my word for it is you need to have your address in nv to purchase. When you transport your own gun to California you need to register it with cadoj and it has to comply with California laws before coming over state lines. Hence the reason you cant buy a rifle with the evil features have it come to an FFL here in California to have them remove the features. It has to come in compliant.

And the handgun side doesn't matter as theres a roster here that we have to comply with. I do not know how people obtain non roster handguns via private party so I can't really detail this side....

Im a couple weeks ahead of you guys on app received date. I do agree with the utter chaos going on over at LASD. I submitted the same day as a friend of mine and he just received and completed his proceed to training. Now he waits for call to pick up.

I was tempted to pull my app and go with my city but Im hearing through the grapevine that fees for my city are going to be in the $700 range, which is outrageous.

Are you talking about how they obtain non-roster firearms in CA via private party? If so, private party transfers arent bound by the roster.

As long the handgun was already registered in California.

You can also have an out of state parent or grandparent gift you the gun. It would have to be sent from an out of state FFL to a California FFL. I know someone who has 3 off roster handguns that were sent to him by a parent.

I know this isn't an FFL thread but might be something worth looking into if you want to add off roster handguns to your CCW list.

do you mean 7-10 months from application date (so "7-10 more months") or from time your call with detective? I'm on same timeline so wondering. Thanks.

What he wrote was kind of confusing. I'm not sure if he applied with both LASD and LAPD. It's about a 9 to 10 month wait for LASD. I'm not sure what's going on with LAPD but I imagine they received a ton of application post-Bruen.

This isn't accurate. The firearm must be DROS'd/Registered to you in AFS for LASD. It is plainly stated on the LASD CCW page under the 'Firearm Training' section and under 'Handgun Requirements'.

                            Handgun Requirements

Any handgun that the applicant intends to carry and have listed on their CCW license shall meet the below criteria prior to being used during their required firearms training. Failure to follow the criteria or failure to adhere to CA state and federal regulations will result in the immediate suspension and/or revocation of the license.
