I mailed in my application in July 2022, money order cashed in September 2022. Still no call back from LASD.

I sent application email to LAPD Jan 23 of this year and got a call for an interview yesterday. Interview date set for September of this year.

Seems like LAPD may be the faster way to go if applying now and you’re in city of LA that’s about a 3 months wait to get an interview date and 9 months from application to interview. It’s been 10 months and no word from LASD!

Haha, I didn't go in a suit and tie. I was just kidding. The suit days are long gone. I went in jeans, nice sneakers and a button down shirt. I was there for 7 mins. no one to impress.

I'm sure y'all remember about a week or so ago I posted about the shady characters that were either picking up CCW licenses or interviewing when I went to pickine up and it was concerning... This is the perfect example why as bad as this sounds NOT all people should be " allowed" and it hurts me to even use those words guys as everyone should have this right the minute they are born but the OP below is something else.

Dude you sound like a complete Fudd, if people are there picking up or interviewing they're just as much a law abiding person as you. Judging is lame and saying some people shouldn't be able to carry is WEAK AF. just mind your business like every other adult. The 2A community as a whole don't have your point of view at all. You sound like you're new to the community just by what you say. Not being rude just telling you like it needs to be said. Stay safe out there, sign up for some training classes too. 🤙🏽

Hey man I completely understand your point and you are 100% right. If you read my original post about picking up I do say in there that this is a terrible thing I am typing and that it is wrong in everyway. No offense taken at all

I do get what you're saying. I went and read that other Calguns thread. That guy thinks that having a gun on him would be a solution. The solution should have been not being a jerk with his reply and not escalating things.

I know the 2A isn't just a right for nice people. Just makes me think this guy and those like him (hot headed) will be quick to draw in road rage situations. We'll see what the result of the increase of CCWs issued is in a couple of years.

Does "completed" mean its completed and a pass or does completed mean there now needs to be a process where they review the completed livescan to judge for approval/pass before telling us to proceed to training?

                          Long Beach CCW

Question, i am waiting for my call from LASD for an interview in the next few weeks, however, i am a resident in Long Beach and they just opened their application process today. The fees are very high, but do you think it will be much faster to go through their process, let me know what you all think. Thanks.

if you change address and submit right away, does your current permit expire at any point? or still good to carry until new one comes in?

I will be taking my renewal class next week so I'll give my final update on how long it takes between submitting training class information to new permit pickup when everything is done.
                                Final renewal timeline report:

                                - 5/3/23 Permit Exp.
                                - 11/3/22 Submit Renewal Application
                                - 3/9/23 Received email from CCW Unit to send utility bill and setup interview
                                - 3/10/23 Phone interview
                                - 4/12/23 Approved with email to do required training
                                - 4/21/23 Did training and submitted late that date (Fri evening so effectively sent in training completion 4/24/23)
                                - 5/1/23 Received call to pickup permit
                                - 5/4/23 Pickup date

So after submitting 6 months in advance, had a one day lapse between old permit and new permit. Granted, I could have saved about 2 weeks if I had taken my tranining prior to receiving approval call. But as I stated before, I advise submitting your renewal, at least 6 months in advance.
