Regarding the denial letter, it looks like I have two routes I can take on my path forward. According to the letter:
If your circumstances change, you may submit a new application.
For further questions, please contact my Executive Aide, Lieutenant... (name and contact info).
Do you think it would be advantageous to first contact the mentioned Lieutenant and be probative about my application, an appeals process that doesn't involve resubmitting an entirely new application, or any other questions I have yet to come up with? Or would submitting a new application as soon as possible be the way to go from here? I am afraid that submitting a new application right away, either with new/different good cause(s) or with further evidence of my original good cause(s), could similarly "smell like an improvised GC just to get a CCW" no matter which way I proceed.02.28.22 - Application mailed

11.03.22 - Interview
01.14.23 - Proceed to training authorization

Of course guys. It's been super frustrating for people to just go dark on here after, I assume, a denial. All info helps. This is really important to me, and I'm not tapping out. If I can pioneer the landscape from an initial denial to eventual approval, I'll consider that a win.I get that it's always been the case that the higher-ups make the final call, but even still, the deputy telling Seaweed is good cause was solid on the phone sounds consistent with a recent internal policy change. I.e. between his phone call and the denial, some edict came down tightening the GC requirements.
It's also not impossible this was a fluke caused by someone having a bad day, or something unique to Seaweed. Guess we'll see how other green GCs go to confirm one way or another.
Seaweed, thanks for sharing. I know its a huge bummer and you are probably in no mood to talk about it. But you are doing us a service. I suspect others were denied too but just ghosted the forum after that.02.28.22 - Application mailed

Unless you have a strong GC that you can back up with evidence, your best bet right now is probably to determine how your GC failed and whether or not additional supporting evidence may bolster your case. Since they did provide you with a contact for questions, can't hurt to ask. At worse, you don't get an answer or perhaps not the answer you'd like. They're not mind readers but I'm sure they can get a feel for whether someone is submitting genuine information or something that's specifically put together to create a narrative.Regarding the denial letter, it looks like I have two routes I can take on my path forward. Could we get you to also provide a link to that in your signature block? That way people will see it more oftenDid anyone tell whoever this post is in reference to to read my CCW Application Advice thread pinned at the top of the forum? Do you guys ever do that? If not, why not? I put a ton of effort into it and make it freely available to the public for a reason: to get more CCWers across the state.I wish today's liberals could understand: You cannot be generous by giving away other peoples' money and you cannot demonstrate your virtue by your willingness to give up other peoples' rights.

Seaweed, I agree, you should ask and try to get specific reasons like "the value of the equipment was not enough", your trips were not frequent enough, it looked like an artificial narrative", etc. Of course if the answer comes back "the value was not enough" than a reasonable question would be, "how much is enough", but I doubt they will answer that. Regarding things looking artificial, to some extent, that is a natural result of an unnatural process. In San Diego, I was asked for photos of me at the range and range receipts as proof of my range visits. I had time to make some trips to the range and take photos, but I explained that the reason I had none from before their request was that until that point I had no reason to save such a receipt or take such a photo. I don't take selfies of me doing ANYTHING. So now I have this artificial habit of taking photos and saving receipts for any shooting trip, but it's only because their process requires it.Unless you have a strong GC that you can back up with evidence, your best bet right now is probably to determine how your GC failed and whether or not additional supporting evidence may bolster your case. I would 100% go back to the Lt and revise your GC.

When you guys sent in your training completion cert, did you reply to the email to proceed with training or create a new email?Comment

I don't think there is anything wrong with some levity and fun. Obviously, if your jokes are very off color, then maybe don't make yourself easy to identify lol.
Lockdown's humor is fun and his advice is solid, albeit stated harshly. We need some comic relief.sigpicComment

I am not convinced they will actually answer if you contact them. It's like when you email the interviewer after you don't get a job to ask for some feedback. A few of the nice ones will respond and be constructive, but most just don't have time and ignore you.Regarding the denial letter, it looks like I have two routes I can take on my path forward. That said, nothing really to lose. In your place, I'd contact them and explain everything you just explained to us, including your multiple good cause justifications and how they weirdly focused on just one of them, and then deemed just that one insufficient. At worst he brushes you off without saying much. At best, maybe he runs it up the chain to really find out what exactly went wrong. And in a dream scenario, maybe they reverse course.
Go ahead and ask. But be polite even if what they say is infuriating. It sucks that our rights are subject to their veto, but it is what it is unless and until SCOTUS says otherwise. You don't want to alienate them for the next application. Even if they can't change the denial, leave them with the impression that you are the guy that took this disappointment gracefully and respectfully, which can only help your odds in another attempt. Getting upset or irritated, even if it is justified, will just put you on their blacklist forever lol.Last edited by meanspartan; 09-28-2021, 11:39 PM.sigpicComment

seaweed said;
I suggest you call the Lt. and ask, if they will even speak to you. Maybe it wasn't even the Lt that popped your balloon, and they will be willing to discuss your GC shortcomings. If your circumstances change, you may submit a new application.
For further questions, please contact my Executive Aide, Lieutenant... (name and contact info).
And just maybe "V" is playing politics, and feels like he has fulfilled his "400% campaign promise". And continued intimidation of the BoS will serve no further purpose.
Without more info, it is any bodies guess.Comment

Some level of levity and fun is to be expected. Even encouraged. As to the bolded.
Judgmental flaming rants of condescending belittlements and castigating aspersions, on any who fail to reach his same level of alimentary osculation acceptance from "V". IS NOT, expected or appreciated.
Nor does any such angry ranting serve any constructive purpose. Other than an artificial boost to the undeserved sense of grandeur and self worth of the ranter.
CCW is not only a 2A issue. It is also a 14th A issue. as in "EQUAL FOR ALL."Comment
