I want to say it was sometime early 2020. I know their Union was fighting for CCWs for the SSOs around that time period. It was around the same time people started getting their initial ccws after AV opened it up. To be clear, they get the same CCW as you and I would and the process is the same for them.

Just received the proceed to training email. I’ve got the training done, but would appreciate clarification on how to email the documentation. The email came from a deputy and instructs to reply to the email and send it to the ccw unit email address. Do I reply to the deputy email and also copy it the ccw email address or just to the ccw unit email and not the deputy?

I did mail my application to lasd barely 6/3/22.
I know I got long wait ahead.

I was considering applying for covina pd. Since I am a resident but I feel like they have more requirements and much more fees as well. Only plus side would be shorter wait time to get ccw if approved than LASD.

Friend #1 finally received their proceed to training email. Both are at 16 months and ticking. Maybe they will get their CCW's before the Election is held. I told them not to hold their breath.

Ugh that sucks! It's weird, my dad missed his call, but the deputy left a call back number.



Scan the documents you bring and that the instructor signs. Make sure email subject is Firearms Training

That's new and hopefully great news that we can expect weekend calls now!

I did my livescan in May and it was completed in July. I am still waiting for the email to begin training.

I’ve got my interview later this week. From what I gather, if it goes well, my next step is to do my Livescan. Where do you guys go to do that, any recommendations? Is it imperative that I do it right after my interview? Will the interviewing deputy give me any instructions, etc about Livescan?

You will get a list of approved Livescan sites at your interview.

My experience - 15 months:
Submitted application at local Sheriff station 6/4/2021
Received email for interview on 1/19/22
Completed interview 2/16/2022
Livescan 2/27/2022
DOJ Livescan firearms shows completed 5/17/22
Received email to complete training 8/4/22
Training completed 8/13/22
Received call to pick up CCW 9/21 2022!!
