This process is ridiculous... Anyone here know if anyone has been successful in filing a writ of mandamus against LASD and/or what impact it had on the process? Anyone know if CRPA/GOA/FPC/etc. are doing anything in response to these wait times?
Try going to the marketplace section on the main page (second from the bottom), then the "Private Firearms Sales - Long Guns" section? I'm only guessing as I'm not speaking from experience. Good luckWalked in application: August 03, 2021

Been reading this thread for a while and it's good to read all the useful information that everyone has been sharing with each other.
For those of you curious about the renewal process for LA County, I am currently in the renewal process. Submitted my renewal application 90 days before expiration. Unfortunately, it was submitted during the time Bruen happened and LASD was bombarded with applications. My permit expires in a few days, but LASD finally called earlier this week and did a renewal phone interview. The deputy was super nice and polite. It looks like I will be 'naked' for a short bit, but I was relieved when they called for the phone interview and said they submitted everything. At least the ball is rolling and I had already completed my renewal class and qual, so now it's a matter of the call for my renewal pick-up.
It does look like there is no set process for everyone. My friend, who also has an expiration date close to mine, submitted his application after me and already picked up his renewal permit. His process was slightly different from mine, as he had a quick phone interview and was given a pick up date during the same phone call. I don't blame the worker bees, which are the deputies. They are short-staffed and probably stressed. They have always been polite and courteous. This is probably an upper management issue with minimal guidance given to the staff.
Once they streamline this process in a few years, we'll all look back and laugh. Good luck to all initial applicants and future renewals and stay patient!Last edited by master lee; 09-30-2022, 2:34 PM.Comment
