Just finished the firearms course today with Security training center at Firing Line range in Burbank. Emailed the LASD ccw unit the completed and signed Shooting Proficiency form and signed course completion form immediately when I arrived home. Glad I applied before the SCOTUS decision since I expect a tidal wave of new applicants and a long wait unless the expand the LASD ccw unit with more deputies to handle the influx of applications. So now I wait for a call not an email to pick up the permit?

There is a thread here which has some good comparisons. There are some differences. some point to this as a reason. CCWSAFE states, “NO REIMBURSEMENT AND NO RECOUPMENT NO MATTER THE OUTCOME!” Some also say, "GET BOTH!"

So then what’s the point of the interview? I understand that in the past it was to determine good cause but why bother now? It should be based on the live scan.

Mine had nothing to do with good cause. I always viewed it as a last chance to make any changes, additions or corrections to your application. Things that you may have though of after you after you submitted the app (or happened since you submitted the application), like tickets or other relevant information. My IA also explained the process and their policy to me as well. Good info. For all of my renewals its just been a phone call interview, less than 5 min.

They also want to make an evaluation of you, your personality, your demeanor and so on.

I concur with this. The Sheriff can properly state that every applicant had a face-to-face discussion with a deputy and nothing inappropriate was noted.

You can have the cleanest record and be spotless but still be a psycho. There should be an interview in my opinion. It is a big responsibility. I'm in favor for everyone to have their CCW btw.

This is exactly the problem with this line of thinking. You are clean and spotless, and you go for interview and Deputy doesn't like the way you look (psycho). DENIED. So your exercise of constitutional rights are dependent on some govt. official's opinion of whether or not you look or act weird. I bet GMC is high on the list for the next batch of lawsuits. There have to be objective standards or else Bruen means next to nothing.

There are plenty of threads talking about what our rights truly are, or should be, and then there is this thread which helps guide people through the process that we have in LA County. I agree with what you are saying, but this thread is long enough already.
