Just picked up today, 13 months since submitting. Funny enough saw my senior manager picking up today as well, same timeline.

According to the live on 7/6 Sheriff says anyone denied for GC needs to re-submit.... he is expecting a streamlined process but i believe he is still out of touch with the exact time to get a ccw. as he is still thinking 2-3 months process.

He added that it's more like 8 months, if not longer. Also he said if city PD's supply him with staff, he'll continue handling the influx but if not, he'll revert to the old policy of applying first to your local PD. And interviews will still be required, but the overall process should go faster without GC. I'm still waiting on a response from LAPD.

                Post from Reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/CAguns/comm...tm_name=iossmf:

CA CCW Interview from July 2022

Just had my CA CCW interview in for LA County. Few interview notes:

                - The interview feels more like a conversation going over what you already submitted.

                - You shouldn't be blindsided by any questions since you've filled them out before.

                - They still asked for my reasoning/Good Cause for wanting to carry a weapon, even after the Supreme Court ruling for NY. Rehearse this to not get caught off-guard.

                - Do your best to have any utility in your name. Surprisingly Spectrum internet qualified. I was told a utility in my parent's name along with a birth certificate would suffice, but in the interview they really poked for a utility in my name.

                - 10-15 mins of yes/no questions, easy.

                - They do ask if you use marijuana so be prepared for that. No testing done for me.

Those are the biggest takeaways. Pretty simple process.
                02.28.22 - Application mailed
                07.13.22 - Live Scan complete
                11.03.22 - Interview
01.14.23 - Proceed to training authorization
                01.21.23 - Cert submitted
                01.23.23 - Acknowledged receipt
03.12.23 - Call to schedule pickup
                04.07.23 - Permit issued

I am going to re-apply. The LASD CCW webpage asks for a $30 application fee using cashier’s check or money order. Last year, I paid with a personal check. Has LASD changed its policy or can I still pay with personal check? This is for the initial application fee, not for the fee to pick up the license.

Edit: called temple station, they said personal checks are accepted. I drove the application to the station. The sergeant reviewed the contents of the application, accepted it and gave me a receipt. I included the livescan and training certificate from summer 2021; the sergeant said that they may ask me to do another livescan, but that the training should still be good. I also included my denial letter (for insufficient good cause) from March 2022. I told him that LASD had emailed me that I needed to wait one year from denial date, but that I understood the Sheriff said that those who were recently denied should/have to re-apply again. The sergeant thought that since the law changed, I should be OK not waiting a year.

                    First time applying.

Just mailed out my application, now the waiting game to see how long the wait is till they contact me. I'm looking to be waiting a good couple of months.

Ugh, at least there is some guidance now. I guess I don't mind paying the application fee but to pay for a Livescan again is BS! Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the heads up. I made that change.

not to burst your bubble, but the current wait time is over 1 year. The LASD is just doing initial interviews from August of last year, so your statement is out of touch with reality. Also, LliveScans are taking more than 3 months to process.

I really hope they don't kick things back to the local police departments. That would be as good as a denial for me.
