//////////Update on my CCW application.
Unfortunately I received a letter on May 16, 2022 from the 'Office Of The Sheriff' informing me that my application for a license to carry a concealed weapon was rejected due to 'Good Cause'.
With the Supreme Court's recent ruling do you think I should immediately reapply, or wait to see how things unfold here in California?
If I were in your shoes,I would first email the CCW department explain what you
shared with us and ask the same question.
If no response after 7 days try calling and ask for a representative from the
CCW department and ask them the question.
I wouldn't be waiting around and you shouldn't have to pay or do any applying
again.
My suggestion... Good luck 👌Completed CCW Course April 6 2022
Applied CCW Online April 7 2022
Live Scan April 27:
Ca & FBI Completed April 27
CCW Phone Interview Completed May 9
Firearms Cleared July 27 (Took 13 weeks or 91 days)
CCW Approved Mon Aug 1 at 1054 am via text and email.
Active CCW Permits: CA,AZ & Utah

Reapply immediately and say you were erroneously denied issue because their pactices are arbitrary, capricious and unfair. The 2nd Amendment did not ever change meaning! They read it wrong. Pay again to expedite your schtick.I was denied because of insufficient good cause although the deputy who interviewed me thought my good cause was good enough but after 11 months I guess they didn’t agree. Since I was denied because of insufficient good cause you think they would reinstate me? Or I still gotta wait one year to reapply?Last edited by marcusrn; 06-27-2022, 11:52 PM.sigpicComment

Given the DOJ's memo, I think I'm going to go ahead and apply.
Question... should I apply first with my city's PD, who has historically been "no issue", first, and then with the county? Or just go straight to LASD?
Then, good cause... should I just list "Lawful self defense", or "New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen"?
Also, I had applied a few years back under Peruta, but I can't for the life of me find a copy of it. Where it asks if I've applied before, and it wants the date, what should I say?
Thanks...Last edited by Agent Akin; 06-27-2022, 12:59 PM.ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

FYI: I just called the LAPD office to inquire about appealing my ccw application from last year which was denied due to good cause. They told me that they currently do not have an appeal process. They told me that they waiting for guidance from the city attorneys office.
I checked out the city attorneys office and found this statement they released in response to the SCOTUS decision:
Things do not look promising for us.As mass shootings and daily incidents of gun violence devastate families across our nation, today’s reckless Supreme Court ruling will make all Americans less safe—and that includes Angelenos. Allowing more guns in public places is a recipe for tragedy and a nightmare for law enforcement striving to protect our families. In the wake of this dangerous decision, we will do everything in our power to safeguard vital California and Los Angeles laws that have prevented countless acts of gun violence.

Nope. They were at best, Yellow on the map after that. Sherriff Dean started issuing for "Self Defense" on 13 Feb 2014 (revised policy was dated 14 Feb) the day the initial 9th ckt ruling on Peruta was handed down. It was intended to be a trial until the case was finalized, but they never went back. Eventually they dropped the language about Peruta from their policy. It wasn't always like that, they had to be sued, copys of hundreds of applications put into evidense to show that the sheriff was issuing to some and not others with the exact same good cause. After that lawsuit they started accepting "self defense" as good cause across the board.Last edited by baggss; 06-27-2022, 4:51 PM.Comment
