It wasn't always like that, they had to be sued, copys of hundreds of applications put into evidense to show that the sheriff was issuing to some and not others with the exact same good cause. After that lawsuit they started accepting "self defense" as good cause across the board.

I stated my thoughts, the current timeframe is not reasonable. I'm not "B*" about anything. You're going to have to accept that and settle down my friend

This works against AV's chances of re-election
Previously, AV had a track record of granting some number of CCW permits while Luna, his opponent, did not. For those of us here and those who think like we do, AV was the safer bet.
Now, that factor is much smaller. The Sheriff has far less discretion.
Personally, I will continue to support AV as I have been impressed by his handling of many other issues in the county, and his willingness to grant CCW permits even when he had the option to reject them. But I can see others feeling differently and supporting Luna for various reasons.Comment

This is based on my opinion, only, no basis in fact, but I'm guessing he was being careful about who got a CCW knowing that if anybody at all with a permit got in trouble, the press and left wing would be all over his butt for handing out CCW like See's candies.
But now that discretion is taken out of his hands, he is free to hand out to anyone he thinks is a safe risk, based on objective criteria. He can't be faulted by the LA Times, it's the fault of the courtComment

Looking at the LASD website, the following documents are listed as being required:
- Valid California Driver’s License, or California Identification Card
- Original Birth Certificate, or Naturalization Certificate, or Valid US Passport
- Proof of Los Angeles County Residency (utility bill)
- DD-214 (if applicable)
- Documents supporting good cause, if applicable
Can anyone confirm or deny if the address of my proof of Los Angeles County Residency needs to match the address on my drivers license? I recently changed apartments, so my drivers license has an outdated address on it.Comment

No, they don't have to match. My DL was different from my current address when I had the interview. Just show your proof of residence.Submitted:06/07

Update on my CCW application.
Unfortunately I received a letter on May 16, 2022 from the 'Office Of The Sheriff' informing me that my application for a license to carry a concealed weapon was rejected due to 'Good Cause'.
With the Supreme Court's recent ruling do you think I should immediately reapply, or wait to see how things unfold here in California?
Hi Guys,
A question for those that have submitted their CCW application.
I live in the Los Angeles area and had my CCW application interview at the LA County Sheriff's Department Headquarters in Monterey Park back on 11/19/2021. I believe it went very well.
My applicant background status completed on the below dates.
Completed 11/22/2021 = CA
Completed 11/19/2021 = FBI
Completed 12/14/2021 = Firearms
It has been several months now and I am still patiently waiting for that phone call/email from LASD letting me to know to proceed with my firearms training, but have not received it yet.
I have called several times and spoke to the Admin person and she assured me that my application is being processed.
Should I call again to get the status of my application?
Should I email the Deputy who interviewed me?
Thank you,Comment

The ruling is not retroactive in my research and the Bonta letter sent out dates from June 24 2022 ruling California is now "Shall Issue".
I would ask for an appeal process of denied CCW if it is 30 days or 60 or 90 California armed guards have 6 months to wait for a denial to reapply under Consumer Affairs B.S.I.S.
