I definitely recommend people to take additional CCW tactical classes not just a required CCW class by LASD. My friends and I took basic and intermediate CCW tactics handgun classes and the outcomes were fantastic. My shooting skill went up significantly.

Shooting skill is a requirement. I also recommend you find a trainer that has a shoot simulator with scenarios for shoot/don't shoot. These will teach you a lot more about yourself than running around banging targets. Not that there's anything wrong with banging targets. If the trainer is worth his salt, you'll get the legal rationale for why you should or shouldn't have shot, replays of your performance and yeah, even a critique of your shooting accuracy and speed.

Congrats. Seems like you did the training before receiving the the email to do training and it sped up your pick up day by 2-3 months.

Thanks. Yeah, it definitely speeds things up as long as you time it right and don't hit the supposed 6-month expiration date. Highly recommend Ron at Medic Up.

how long is the wait at the pickup appointment?

Not very long, you'll probably be in and out. They don't spend that long with each individual person. Check your info, take your cashier's check/MO, take your photo, print your card

Nowadays, how long does it take to finish the firearms portion of the Livescan?

Now, that is what I call prepared. If each and every one of us who desires a CCW is as prepared as this, then It would be easier for the IA to grant a permit. I too have my stack of documentation prepped and set aside since the time I sent in my application back in June. Kudos to you brother!

I was asked for my most recent performance review and a letter from my boss stating that I have to travel for work with sensitive documents.

Finished the interview this afternoon. Now I have time to share my experience. I had my appointment at 1 PM. The deputy called me at 1:04 PM. The whole interview took about 25 mins.
The deputy is a very nice, professional, and pretty lady. I believed that she had reviewed my application. I saw she highlighted the GC par on my application. My GC is post#8915.
I think the interview went smoothly. She asked for the documents to support my GC. I provided them. I also explained what are my documents.
In the end, she let me do the live scan asap. But she said I don't have to send them the ATI number. The agency will send the result to them.
When I went to do the live scan in Downey, I met a gentleman who also did the live scan for CCW. He is not a calguner. He had his interview at Monterey Park. He sent his application in July.
