Read the last 20-30 pages to get a true feel. At this point, it's too hard to judge because they are adding personnel but I am not sure if that is cutting down on total time. To manage expectations, I would guess 5-8 months.

I applied mid April and it took two months to get an interview and that was on the early side. From the interview (mid June) I was told three months. I would guess 5 months on the low end and maybe 8 months worst case?

Your best bet is to check the money order status and see if it was cashed. That's what I did. Don't worry, it made it there. They are swamped.

That's interesting ... There's people that have been getting calls in a month or a bit over 2 months. I'm pretty sure a stack of applications are given to different investigators and some may work faster than others. I waited about a month and a half before I emailed the CCW unit and they advised that they are waiting until a investigator is assigned. Just be patient. LA County is a huge country stretching from Lancaster all the way down to Long Beach.

Agreed! Are there many cities in the county with their own P.D.s that have the right political views for this?

I am in the process of finalizing my GC statement. I would be yellow, work-related. Hopefully, I can still get an interview. Seem like I will be in for a long wait.
