Has anyone who was issued a CCW in the past applied? I had one in a red county prior to moving to LA County, curious if they see that and there is an additional wait while they contact the County where I previously had a CCW to see what is in that file. I let it lapse as I no longer lived there.

I was following the old process of having to get denied first when they changed the rules of the game on me. Meh, and it was only $30…

Do you think you’ll be approved for LAPD? I read the blog and if issued, they’ll restrict it to your GC.

LASD will likely be unrestricted and if LAPD approves, she’s wrong about thinking LASD wouldn’t approve.

You can always withdraw your LAPD application during the process if your GC is Yellow or Red.

Unless it gets kicked back down by the higher ups, I think LAPD will approve.

I think she is referring to that you probably could not have both a CCW issued by LAPD, and one issued by LASD.

She did mention that you could say no anytime before it's issued, and she mentioned that given the current climate that others have done that.

That is what I took this to mean as well. When I was in contact with LAPD before LASD opened up the process to incorporated city residents, Officer Penson was very pleasant! Seemed like she really empathized with my desire to apply/be issued despite the odds being highly against me with LAPD. She even called when LASD opened up to LA City residents to make sure I knew I could just apply directly to LASD now.

Yeah, I called Officer Pearson in April and let her know I've decided to follow the LASD pathway to CCW Permit and would like to cancel my application. She was well aware of the changes in policy and understood my decision.
