Had my interview last Tuesday. I think it went well. The deputy stated, "unlike like our neighboring counties, hiking and camping is not a good enough cause as of now, however there are some circumstance of us issuing a ccw for such cause. We are primarily looking for POTENTIAL (she slightly raised her voice
with a quick pause) work related good cause." Also stated, "it is not up to me to approve ccw's. It's above me. All I am doing is fact checking, gathering additional info, and proof to get you approved, or denied. If I know an applicant won't get approved, I won't give them a live scan form. Live scans are pricy and I don't want to waste anyone's time or money. You'll know if and when you are officially approved when we call or email you to proceed with the required training."
I then asked if I were likely to get approved. She said yes as long as your live scan comes back clean and you've disclosed everthing to me. Which seems like you have because you told me of an issue that there was no record of you doing. If we would have found out on our own, you would have been immediately denied for not disclosing. Before calling an applicant, I check their record. " (Had a couple ruin ins with LE when i was 13 and 17.) Also said " the DOJ is taking a long time on the background check and there have been times the applicant's background check was complete and they didn't notify us. After you complete the live scan, email me the ATI # so I can keep track of it."

    Stay patient everyone

This is unfortunate. For this reason, LA County should not be the same color (light green) as OC or Ventura. Maybe lemon lime.

Interesting. I was going to comment on the earlier post a Calgunner made here about disclosing a petty theft thing that happened before he turned 18. Not sure if that would be advisable, as juvenile records are sealed, and it argues against good moral character (not making my own judgment here, just what CCW units will think). Is it possible that a juvenile arrest could still be discovered by a CCW investigator? Yes, but I'd think the odds very low. Like if your LASD investigator arrested you or worked your juvenile case. As always, IAALBNYL, DNROTAALA: I Am A Lawyer But Not Your Lawyer. Do Not Rely On The Above As Legal Advice.

Yes, especially after that pesky 19th Amendment ruined everything.

In the interview, the deputy gave me an opportunity to add on any disclosures. I would mention it. Wouldn't want to get denied for something petty; withholding info or appearing to be untrustworthy. Especially since it was dismissed.

Im in lb too. I also added crime to my good cause in addition to work related gc. If you could somehow relate work into your gc, i think it'll up your chances.

Fyi, if you get called for an interview, the deputy offered to have the interview in cerritos and Monterey park.

700 was not the number she got too. 700 was the amount given out in 6 months. RCF.

As of the Facebook Live that Sheriff Villanueva did early May, I quote If there were 220 like you stated and he had over 1000 issued by end of May, (NOT INCLUDING more of the applications that went into pending status), then your numbers are wrong.

This does not even include mine, in which I will be picking up in a couple days. So i'm sure that he's far exceeding your 600 issued within 6 months mark.

FUD is the main reason why people are not applying, because of how skeptical they are of the process.
Every time there is an election or some other issue regarding the LASO this place becomes FNG city. They all come in and in less than 6 months they are all gone. You have no credibility. Your numbers are all screwy. Somehow you equated 430 pending as all approved. So your over a 1000 claim is suspect. I never said anything about him issuing 600 in 6 months. I simply stated that in the OC in 2014 700 were issued in 6 months. 1000 out of a POP. of 10.1 million is nothing. Ask yourself this ; why the sudden change in policy after being in office over 2 years. It is a pure political move. It is has nothing to do with your safety. I hope everyone that applies gets one. I really do but believe me there is a cap.
