I submitted 3/17 to the station closest to hall of justice, still no call/letter. Emailed last month and got the generic "you will be contacted when your file is assigned" response. Have the same feelings that you do about where my app went, then I see dates posted here who are just getting calls and my hopes raise slightly.

I regret not taking it direct to the hall of justice lol Forsure wouldve gotten a call by now.

I would just resubmit. I don't think it does any harm.

Once they find the duplicate, they'll just throw it out. Of if the ycall you, just say "hey I'm already in the process, this was a duplicate application"

LA Co has been moved to "Light Green".

You should always look at the path of least resistance. Apply with the easiest good cause section.

Yep about 3 days after I submitted the app. Check cashing and interview date really have no correlation

The only good cause I can think of for my situation is carrying multiple firearms such to going to the gun range that adds up to considerable value, and going to places such as mountains where there's no cell phone coverage around that area. Is that considered light green or dark green GC? Should I give it a try?

From my understanding, it's a light green GC as recreational. I used that as my GC as well. Haven't received any update mailed in my app on 4/8/21

Also just a quick question. I currently have a traffic moving violation that I haven't paid for and cleared yet, do they automatically deny anyone that has a moving violation/accident for the past 5 years?

Just curious because if/since your check was cashed, at least you know some eyes have at least briefly been on your app.

No offense but I don’t think that’s a good way to look at it. Light green good cause is the bare minimum they are willing to accept. Given that some good cause reasons are subjective you don’t want to fall on the wrong side of that evaluation and have the person reviewing your good cause statement consider it dark green instead of light green. If you have a yellow, light red, or dark red good cause you’re better off using one of those since they are definitely accepting those colors. Of course you must be able to prove any good cause you use as well as be able to articulate it well both on the application and the in person interview.

I disagree with the notion that Light Green is the "bare minimum" they will accept. I look at it; and I think it's meant to be, what they "will" accept as good cause.

I can also see your point on if "your" good cause falls in say "Light Red" you should use that as your good cause. Though it could also be harder to "prove" your good cause. And, from what I've read it really sounds like LA Co is looking for proof of GC.

So, if you read Paladin's post #31 in this thread: https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/....php?t=1482924 You'll see that there are several things listed that qualify for "Light Green" Good Cause, and in his words:

All the below will likely pass in a Light Green county. Most of us can get issued here.

(4) Live and/or work in a dangerous area as seen by crime stats (provide crimemapping maps, news stories, gov't stats)

(5) There's something obvious about applicant that makes them particularly vulnerable to attack and thus an attractive target (e.g., an obvious physical handicap or medical issue that makes fleeing, hiding, or fighting impractical. Provide note from MD and/or PT on letterhead explaining condition, medical records, etc.)

(6) Recreational activities in remote locales with little or no cellphone coverage and/or long LE response times (e.g., amateur wilderness photography, target shooting, hunting, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, motorcycling, backcountry skiing, etc.). (Use trail maps, calendars, log books, receipts from campgrounds and photos as proof.)

(7) Recreational activities that put you at a heightened risk due to the property's value or equipment's inherent danger (e.g., Craig's List seller/buyer, avid shooter who transports several semi auto pistols, rifles and/or shotguns and hundreds of rounds to various ranges or C&R collector). (For proof use photos of activities, value of equipment/property, sales receipts, copy of club membership card, photos of trophies won, training certificates, C&R license.)

Here's what he says about Yellow, Light Red and Dark Red Good Cause:

First off we’re still confirming they accept LG GCs. From previous posts it seems like at least a half dozen CGNers with LG GCs have applications being processed so we should know for sure by July 01 (which is when AV might liberalize acceptable GC further).

Next, assuming LASD is actually approving LG GCs, that means both that they will accept it and that it is, as far as we know, the weakest or minimal GC category they’ll accept. That is, LASD won’t accept Dark Green GCs (daily routine risks or “self defense”).

Because if you can show that you are more likely to be attacked (the categories that fewer people can qualify under), your GC is more likely to be approved.

Okay, but I still think that you should try to go with the options easiest to document. And, the more people you get trying to use those things as good cause will make it harder for AV to ignore them. Especially when you have this listed as a LG GC:
