My brothers application with the LASD is coming up on a year, ready silence. I was told that he needs to email them, to check status. I was also told by someone that it took them 1.5 years to get a CCW. This is ridiculous. Is this normal practice for a ccw, he's got a clean record and no issues with background.

Perfectly normal right now. They were inundated with a massive inflow of applicants and couldn't size up quickly enough to deal with everyone and it caused a huge back log. They're working thru it.

Took me over a year until I was called for an interview. It'll end up being >1.5yrs for my total time from beginning to end. You can call/email for a status update but don't expect any info other than "your application has been received and we'll call you when we're ready to schedule your interview." Be patient. There's nothing you can do at the moment to expedite things except make sure you're answering your phone and being flexible with when you're available for interview. You can do you Livescan & training early if you're confident you aren't likely to be denied.

Apex Firearms Training and the Firing Line Burbank.
I know there has been some confusion about this. The range the training is conducted at is just the location. The instructor being on the approved list is what matters to the IA.
I am teaching at both the Firing Line and a private outdoor range.
To sign up for classes at the Firing Line, use their website (firingline.net). For the outdoor range, use laccw.net
Not trying to advertise, just set the record straight.

                Fair enough.

I am still waiting for my proceed to training email, but I went ahead and did the training with Security center. Now that they are not on the list (they were when I took the training 4 months ago), will LASD honor that?

That's a great question. I have never heard of this happening before. Since they aren't on the list anymore and the paperwork hasn't been submitted, I don't think they will. Just an S.W.A.G on my part, but I'll reach out tomorrow and see if I can get a definite answer.

I just talked to the sheriff's dept. They are accepting the certificates as long as they are not expired (over a year) and training was completed prior to them dropping from the list.

Does anyone know how LASD looks into firearms that were bought during the SSE era?
"Prohibit the peasants from owning katanas, wakizashis, arrows, spears, or matchlock rifles. If the peasants are armed, they will not pay nengu (taxes) and they will not be subordinate to the officials."

Toyotomi Hideyoshi's Sword Hunt Edict of 1588, establishing the class division between the peasants (commoners) and the samurai (the governing elites).

All I want to clarify that Training is good for 1 Year after completion. I saw previous post saying 6 months, I emailed the CCW unit and they confirmed 1 year.
