But firecrackers...
I am unaware of anyone smart enough to attempt to evaluate the explosive nature of firecrackers to primers during a barbeque experiment.

4th of July, anyone have any pity for the kid carrying an ice-bucket in his good hand with his burnt hand in the other? That Jerry, he sure is entertaining. Keep digging.

I raise you... I was that adult with an ice bucket. That's what happens when you tape 6 sparklers (old school magnesium metal rod kind) together. In a millisecond, 2k degrees. Six shots of morphine later I was still whaling in pain and now viciously I'll from the meds. Never again.

Sometimes it's difficult to play nice with people whom by their negligence cause similar injuries to others.

We should inform Remington & other primer manufactures to change the warning labels to read:

Keep Out of Reach of Adult Children.

Keep out of reach of adults acting like children?

I'm confused. You reload ammo with fireworks? Or you ignite primers in your hand?

That's just plain foolish. I wouldn't recommend either of those things.

How Do Mayor McRifle.

I looked thru my lasted posting.

I fail to see exactly where I made readers believe that I recommended anyone using primers for any reason other than for their intended purpose. If you could please point to the post or choice of words that I used to give anyone that impression I'd be more than willing to clarify that sentiment immediately.

Poster JDay did mention primers & fireworks in the same post. I believe my response clearly indicated that my intelligence prowess had no curiosity on that level.

I am pleased to see that you recognize the inherent danger of a single primer in their misuse.

During our discussion, another poster mentioned taking expended & a few live primers to a recycling facility. That reminded me of a discussion I had with a Laborer at such a workplace. Apparently he was in the vicinity when some kind prohibited material reached a certain temperature during the recycling process. His story was quite colorful and will no doubt make for a good blog story especially since no one was hurt with only property damage.

It is just that primers seem to be at the center of the majority of reloading injuries that I'm aware of. Maybe it's because they are small & inexpensive as compared to other components.

People can be so impressionable, and sometimes these little things lead to big things. I don't want to see any get hurt.

So, how are things going after your most memorable 4th of July...experience? When I become smart enough to post pictures and start a blog, I might ask you for permission to use that picture for a, 'Don't-Let-This-Happen-To-You' story.

Primers are "prohibited material"??
I have been dong this for more than a few years. If the owners and buyers at Aaron Metals in Oakland tell me more than once that a few live primers in the scrap are OK I think I will believe them.

You're absolutely more then welcome to use my Darwin nomination event as a training/lesson for others. I have more pics as well during the healing process and it took a month before I was allowed to go back to work. (I'm not a pansy though, after this happened I went back to work the very next work day and I was forced to take leave until healed.)

Anyway, I got super lucky. There's no evidence of this occurring anymore and several months after it happening I was back to jamming on my bass. But those long months... not being able to use my hand taught me so much about the consequences of being stupid.
