    tossing primers

I was replying to another post when I figured I should ask here .
What do you do with primers you don't trust ? I had a primer tube bust and primers went all over . I did not trust them , so I soaked in water for a few days . Loaded one with a lee hand loader and a plastic bullet . It still went bang . I dumped the rest in a can of latex paint .
WHAT do you do with primers you don't trust ? Before that happened , I would tape them to a target and get out the Benjamin pellet gun .

I think you can deactivate them with penetrating oil, but I'm not sure.

It is not like they are an atomic bomb. Just toss them in the trash.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

        WD40 kills them....

If they are shotgun primers.... they can make for fun sling shot ammo... if shot into a curb or other similar surface.....
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

I save them, then when I have an outdoor campfire out back they get tossed in there. This is a sure "fire" way of de-activating them.

              WHY?

If I was watching my friend and his primer tube busted a nut and primers went all over the place and he started picking them up to destroy, I would take them from him, put them in my pocket, go home and load them in MY ammo...

Just because a primer falls onto the floor does NOT mean it is bad. The primers do NOT work for the government. You can trust them no matter how many times they bounce onto the floor...

Where are you at OP? Imma gonna call the reloaderz polize on you for primer abuse!

Other than fire or a hammer, primers these days are fairly difficult to kill. Don't bet your life or anatomy on anything but either of those two working.

I won't throw them away . Our garage is picked up and crushed into truck .
I can just see a neighbor throw in a paint can , a primer going off and a fire in truck .
I won't use a primer that fell on bench [ now I hand load primers in chair in house ] anymore than I would try to use / reuse powder that was spilt or from pulled bullets .
Primers and powder is too cheap to take a chance on . I toss bulged cases , split ones and if there is a crack in base . [ the 50 AE / 44 and 357 tosses cases and if they miss the case net and hit floor , sometimes they bend . I straighten with a lee hand loader and vise - some times they crack ]

Highly unlikely. You have a better chance of hitting the Powerball.

Mighty fussy! If you are that obsessed with the dropped primers, and don't want to pitch them in the trash for fear they might cause the second Chicago fire, just put them in a GI ammo can with a good gasket and save them for leaner times.

They might come in handy some day...

I have used primers that have been sprayed with oil. They work just fine.
