Yes, just like people in general, there are some FFLs that are ignorant, irrational and paranoid, but there are more informed, rational ones than ignorant, irrational paranoid ones. This has nothing to do with the law.
Proof of this is the fact that I purchase firearms and ammo out of state pretty much every year with no issues.
It appears that your beliefs are also based on your own paranoia and have nothing to do with the actual law.

Seems to be pretty irrelevant since up until 9 days ago it wasn't crime to transport ammunition back into California.Yes, just like people in general, there are some FFLs that are ignorant, irrational and paranoid, but there are more informed, rational ones than ignorant, irrational paranoid ones. I am still very curious how this law will even be enforced let alone actually achieve the goals they think it will.
In addition, I am of the opinion that this only affects ammo that is acquired out of state after the law went into effect. Anything purchased before the law is already your property, no matter where it was purchased. The whole idea is to stop people buying ammo out of state and bringing it back in.
Overall this strikes me as an attempt to stop street racing by making gasoline harder to buy.Comment

To those of us who have little or no understanding of how the State or Federal Legislative process works or how laws are enforced and the Justice system is structured, new laws and their enforcement is a mysterious and frightening jungle of hidden dangers.
Anything seems possible. Anyone might be arrested and prosecuted for unknowable reasons.
This makes the State seem all powerful and tyrannical. How are us mortals to protect themselves from these God like powers?
The light of education and knowledge are the only way to push back this darkness and fear.

Well, since my reply was in response to the comment that FFLS get skittish any time CA comes up on their radar and was not specific to the new ammo laws it's only irrelevant if you failed to understand the discussion. But just to make you happy, I will add the example of the case of ammo that I have arriving from out of state next week.Last edited by TRICKSTER; 01-09-2018, 6:49 PM.

Yes it is different. But it doesn't mean that it would prevent rabid leftists from filing a tax payer funded frivolous lawsuit like they did with Exile. I don't think it's too far fetched to believe that just the mere threat of this could cause some retailers to start asking for ID. FUD and ignorance of Ca complex gun laws also exasperates the problem.
I also seem to recall members here reporting that they were ID'd when buying mags in Vegas gun stores when they were suspected of being from Ca.
Two weeks ago I was in the "Las Vegas Gun Store" (the one that advertises machine gun rentals at around 30 rounds for $40.00!)
Anyway, I was at the counter when a customer walked in and asked to buy some hi cap M1A magazines. The clerk told the customer they had them in stock, but that he needed to see the customer's I.D. The customer showed the guy his CA I.D or Driver's license and the clerk became an instantaneous loud, arrogant smart *****.
The clerk spoke very loud (I'm guessing in order to impress his co-workers and to gain the attention of every customer in the store) and told the poor guy that it was "illegal" for the CALIFORNINA resident to buy hi caps.
The customer wasn't satisfied with that simple answer so he asked the "gun store lawyer": Since when is it illegal for a person in Nevada to purchase a hicap magazine? The clerk said, "The California DOJ says it's illegal for us to sell them to CA residents."
Hopefully someone with direct experience with this can opine__________________________________________________ _____________

Retailers commonly ask for residence information so that they can decide where to open new stores.Cabelas asks for a phone number or zip code on all sales. I tell them no, but I haven't bought any mags. I cant imagine they are looking for CA residents. It's not illegal for CA residents to buy Hi Cap Mags in NV. It's illegal to bring them into CA.
The cashiers at Cabelas are not on the CA DOJ Pre Crime Unit payroll.Comment
