If you were driving to Parump to take a class and drove over (from California) with 2k rounds with you, and returned with some of it, is there anything illegal about that? If not, how can they prove at a checkpoint that you bought the ammo in NV and are illegally importing it to Ca?

Last week I went out of state. Stopped by a local walmart. I was doing some shooting out of state so I figured I get some ammo, I didn't really go crazy just bout a couple hundred rounds of 9mm, 45acp and some 762. I knew I was going to get a lecture when the walmart nazi asked me for my ID. About 30 seconds after he checked my ID He told me.... Your not suppose to take that into CA.
I told him nice try but Its not going to CA.
He started spouting some FUD about the gov is going to start tracking ammo sales so they can find out what ppl are shooting so if their shooting something illegal they will raid and take their firearms....
So I inquired what does the gov want with my 223 bolt gun.....

How far out of state?
Last time I was out of state, I was drooling over a Henry and the Walmart employee was insisting that I did not need to be an in-state resident to buy it. He apologized and said that he would pray for me when I told him that the State of California said that I do have to be an in-state resident even though he is an FFL.- Rich

The post I was referring to was talking about buying in NV. Some of the chain stores ask for your zip code for marketing research. You are free to not give it out. I usually just give the local zip code, it makes it easier on the cashier. She has to ask because it is part of her job. If you do not like it you have to complain to a manager.It isn't legal in California. Kmart got sued for it.

A vote is clearly much more dangerous than a gun.
Why advocate restrictions on one right (voting) without comparable restrictions on another (self defense) (or, why not say 'Be a U.S. citizen' as the requirement for CCW)?

Yes it is different. But it doesn't mean that it would prevent rabid leftists from filing a tax payer funded frivolous lawsuit like they did with Exile. I don't think it's too far fetched to believe that just the mere threat of this could cause some retailers to start asking for ID. FUD and ignorance of Ca complex gun laws also exasperates the problem.
I also seem to recall members here reporting that they were ID'd when buying mags in Vegas gun stores when they were suspected of being from Ca.

wait till someone gets a picture of the drone flying between baker and the AG checkpoint.Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
