Living with your in-laws? Oh hell no. You have bigger problems than the gun issue, OP. Your girlfriend is nuts, man.

This all the way. She has unrealistic expectations. Apartment out back? Where exactly is this house at?
2 masters? Say goodbye to your sex life. My wife's greatest fear is being heard by her parents or vice-versa.

I'm gonna go on a limb here and assume you're paying for all this as well. In that case, get her a really nice purse to carry the goods in.

        Only read the OP.

If someone hasn't brought it up yet, be sure to ck out my list of, now, >160 incidents where public carrying of a handgun saved lives. The list is linked in my sig line.

fwiw there is/was a gang in Detroit of 4 - 6 males that committed armed robbery against couples, stripped BOTH of the victims, and then ALL of the gang members took turns raping the woman while forcing the man to watch.

While I haven't heard of it spreading beyond "the Paris of the West" (as Detroit was know as about a century ago...), with "social media" I would not be surprised if it does.

If there's one lesson to be learned by reviewing my list of 160+ incidents it is (other than pizza drivers), it is how unpredictable is the need for a CCW. Since you can't predict it, best to EDC.
240+ examples of CCWs Saving Lives.

          1. What gives you the right to decide who dies?
            Read Time to Kill.
          2. Can you really handle potentially taking someone's life?
Depends on your training or lack of.
          3. Do we really have that much crime that you need to carry a weapon? I'm fine without one.
There are good guys and bad guys.
          4. I'm afraid of a gun accidentally going off.
Maintnenence of gun and training is key.
          5. Don't you know that a criminal will just take it away?
            Training again.
          6. You're more likely to hurt yourself or me with that thing.
            Training once again.
          7. I think only the police and military should have guns.
When a seconds count, the police are minutes away.
          8. Do you really go around criminals who'd want to hurt you?
Armed society is a polite society.
          9. Don't ever carry one when you go out with me.
            Then I'll be alone.

I had a similar experience with my now-ex-girlfriend. She was so anti-gun that she said that she would rather be killed, and her son (not mine) be killed, than kill the attacker in self-defense.

This was the first of many signs to come that she would not be the mother to my children.

Female checking in - I have a one-word solution (and it is based on dragging her parents into your household and not the gun "issue")

Even if I get her to accept firearms, I'm certainly going to veto the inlaws in the household. Other conversations along these lines were fantasizing about buying a few acres and building several houses on it. One for us and two others for parents. I could possibly go for that.

She is trying to dominate you so that you will end up doing everything her way and if that does not work she is setting you up to become the evil SOB who ruined everything, including her perfect world.

She is bringing her parents in to get more leverage to keep the guns out. They plus her outvote you. Then of course when children come onto the scene, it will be for the safety of the children. You will have 3 people constantly badgering you about what a rotten person you are for having guns around. If you do have them, one day you might come home and find them gone. She took them to the police or called the police to take them away because she is afraid. Or, they just disappeared and nobody knows what happened. That happened to me and it took a couple of years for me to track down my rifle. The PD was of no use because it was marital issue.

You do not want in-laws on the same property. They will just pop in the house at any time they wish. Your wife will give them a key. Your house will be their house. Their will be no privacy.

She gets pissed at you, she will immediately run to her parents. She does not have to work things out. You are the bad guy.

You are not going to convince her to accept guns. She has already shown she will not make any attempt at a compromise. She is manipulating you to do it her way.

My wife is slightly anti and I ignored it. The compromise made was we were not going to talk about it. I thought I would just give up guns for her. When I could no longer do that because I had a real need for one for SD and my now adult son wanted me to teach him about guns, then it became a huge problem. It was a simmering problem for 26 years and then it boiled over for 4 unpleasant years. The marriage almost failed. It has only been the last year that my wife has accepted that I do mean it when I say I am keeping the guns and if she cannot handle it I am out the door and headed to a free state. Our son will be moving in a year and I will go where he goes.

Once she lost the ability to manipulate me, our relationship has greatly improved. We both agree though that if we had it to do over again, we would not have married each other. We were too young and dumb and love does not fix everything. We ended up staying in CA because she wanted to be close to her parents even though 20 years ago I could have taken a job out of state when I finished school and earned 3x the money she was making at the time and that salary was more than we are both earning together today.

From what you have posted, I can see myself in your shoes 32 years ago. Walk away. That is what I should have done. Find a woman who is much more compatible with your values and one that you do not have to change your fundamental core values in order to be with. The quality of the rest of your life depends on it. You owe your current GF no explanation other than this is not working out so I am out of here. I wish you a good life.
Anyone can look around and see the damage to the state and country inflicted by bad politicians.

A vote is clearly much more dangerous than a gun.

Why advocate restrictions on one right (voting) without comparable restrictions on another (self defense) (or, why not say 'Be a U.S. citizen' as the requirement for CCW)?

Is your girlfriend by chance an anchor baby? If she is that would explain things better here.
