^^^The loan contract signed at the car dealer is contingent upon satisfactory financing and the contract usually states 'Subject To Credit Approval' at the bottom. The cost of the car itself does not change, only the terms of the loan.

The OP paid in full, no loan approval required.

I've updated my original post to include pictures of the receipts, with personal information blanked out for obvious reasons. As noted, the paperwork shows the original date of 2/22/15 and the follow up paperwork shows 3/06/15 however, the cashiers receipts show the same date and time.

I am not familiar with retail. Why does the original and new receipt have the same date/time stamp?

looking at the new receipt, it still doesn't make sense.

you said the deal was supposed to be $949, the new total is $999. why is there a $50 difference?

There was a $50 rebate associated with the deal. the original had in smaller print $999.99 but in large print $949.99. I have a copy if the ad saved in my files

it appears that it is an "amended receipt" of sorts. since it is a layaway, they might just adjust the receipt as needed to show additional deposits being left on it, and to show the added lock that was listed later.

It was not a layaway. He originally paid in full. They amended the receipt after the fact and it now shows a balance due and a price that was never agreed on. I hope he didn't agree to the amended price and/or sign any of the new paperwork.

I'll see if I can find my layaway paperwork from them but I'm pretty sure you got duped into a layaway here. Hence it saying the cancelation fee on the original sheet.

I didnt sign anything accepting the new price. Not to my knowledge anyway. I may have signed something in my haste to leave the store when presented the typical paperwork requiring 10 different signatures. The original paperwork contains my signature, dros date and pick up date with the salesperson s signature. The updated paperwork with the revised price does not. Not my copies anyway. This is my legitimate concern.. that i may have signed my rights to the gun away.

I know it isn't a true layaway, but I think they process firearms sales as layaways since there is a deposit left (up to 100%) but the sale isn't complete until pickup. I'll have to look at my turner's receipts to see if they say layaway on them even though I paid in full at the start.

the biggest problem I see here is the stupid 10 day wait
if there was none he would of left with his paid for property and no one would of known about this problem

they are holding his paid for property hostage
I would call the police get them there to at least file some sort of complaint on the manager personally

they are trying to extort more money from you, and I bet if you didnt pay in cash they would of charger more on your debit or credit card without you knowing too

bait and switch, unfortunately time was on there side

did they ever contact you before you went after 10 days to pick up

Can we see the bottom of the dros stamped sheet? Does it have a final layaway date?

That 2nd receipt is BS. They probably had three sets of eyes on that transaction before you paid, and nobody thought it was wrong. They need to honor that transaction and I would accept nothing less.
