I'm confused. I can go onto Ruger Forum and see all the ammo threads in "Ammo Dump" without signing in. I can do the same thing at S&W. I can do the same thing at RimFire Central. I can do the same thing at the Browning Forum, although they don't have much of an ammo thread.

I've been in this thread since last year. And you are the one trying to keep the "newbs" out.Ahhh I get it. Because I don't have enough "my Blazers shipped" or "my Cabelas order went straight to bo" posts labels me a noob cause I started posting in this thread last month. Sorry but I've been around a while. I went back and read page after page when I had time to learn how to use the links. Don't bash people cause you showed up to the party late.Comment

Out of the office all morning, read the last few pages and its deja vu...all over again.
BTW, AMMO BROS in Cerritos has loads and loads of 22lr from Winchester, CCI and three other brands (about eight cents per round on average). No minimum.
Also...Walmart in Orange (I think they are on Tustin) just unpacked (as of 12:15PM) two boxes of Winchester 333 (I'm guessing about 36 mini-bricks per box). 3 mini-bricks per customer and all other ammo has no minimum. And they have plenty of 32ACP, 380AUTO, 45ACP and lots and lots of 9MM. Go get'm!Last edited by Bushwack44; 03-04-2014, 1:31 PM..

Guys, it's ammo finds, not Cabelas ammo finds. There's no reason it shouldn't be business as usual other than laying off of Cabelas for a week and seeing if things get more back to normal.
All of these sites have similar issues - they have a bunch of servers that do load balancing, and their inventory is only semi real time. There's a lot of cacheing because that speeds things up and usually it's OK. It's really critical when you're checking out, and it's pretty important when you're looking at an item page, and it's not that important when you're doing a summary page or doing search and that's why we see results percolating up like that. Also keep in mind that summary pages would have to do a realtime lookup for a bunch of items, and an item page only one. So there's a varying server load cost.
Clearly to get in first you want to be using the freshest possible data. On some sites this means watching the item page, not summary pages. On some sites if they have an explicit method to get things into a cart without doing an in stock check it's very convenient to get right to the absolutely real time "checkout" stock check. On other sites it may be possible to save off some add to cart links and force the issue, I don't know, I haven't tried it.
The deeper you go into the system the more incentive the companies have to plug the whole to maintain a sense of fairness. It's easy enough for Cabelas to kill a few pre-programmed shopping carts. It's harder to change their fundamental server architecture.Comment

I'm not sure you were understanding me.
I was suggesting moving this thread to the "off topic forum"
Yes, this thread we are in now ANYone can read on the internet. However, if we moved the thread to the off topic forum on this site, then you can't search it via google, and you can't even see it unless you are logged in. This would have the benefit of only helping calgunners. of course, anyone can sign up, but they wouldn't even know that they need to sign up if they couldn't even see or search for this thread in the first place.
Meanwhile, let this thread die, or delete it altogether. Now the problem is solved for outsiders lurking and stealing the links. Everyone wants to be so tight lipped about the links because the facebookers ruined it. We got newbs hating newer newbs for asking "where the links at?"
The mods could make this forum unsearchable and unviewable, but apparently are unwilling to do so. So we voluntarily move it to off topic.
Get it?
I like it.
I didn't understand at first either, but I'm picking up what you putting down now.
So......It takes one to know one.Comment
