    One? Both? All three?
What is the minimum size outer diameter irons targets for the distances that would be visible to you for a decent sight picture? Is the 25yd, 50 yd, 100yd too small? Should the outer diameter be bigger? Your insight would be helpful!
50 was fine as you can see with my groups

25 you really only see the center black dot so at 25 the picture you see is about the size of a pinhead

at 100 the alternating black and white stripes make the target look like a blurry grey circle

this is especially true when its bright out as the white paper makes a big glare.

DHW its doable to shoot but for us older guys its just a little more difficult

I'll jump in here on the iron target sizes. As USMCCHET said the 50 yd is great. It is the right size (my opinion) and a solid bullseye gives the best sight picture. For the 25 yd I think the ideal size is a 2" to 2 1/2" solid bullseye. For 100 yd irons a 5" to 6" bullseye might be good. I am a little biased here because I shoot with aperture sights both front and rear and my ideal sight picture is a solid black target that is just a little smaller than the front aperture (I can change the aperture size to fit the target, usually). For regular iron sights I think these targets will also be good for a 6 o'clock hold sight picture.

USMCCHET: Those two 25 yd targets are just slightly above excellent. Nearly cleaned the left one. That target is, as you said, like shooting at a pin head with irons so that is just subperb shooting.

So what would you prefer? Something more solid?

          LOL sorry
at 100 a solid would be better
with a scope it no problem to see it but with irons its just a greyish blur

I may try colored paper at 100 to see if the contrast would work better to see it if thats OK

Those are great targets mcchet! This iron sight stuff looks like fun. I've been keepin my eye out for an h&r 1200 but never seem to see them. Those Kimbers look sweet but seem to be a lot less of a bargain than in years past...

I shot the 25 and 50 yard open sights today. I have to agree on the 25 yard being hard to see. I made the mistake of posting a couple targets adjacent to each other and on one string I shot the bottom L and R targets when I should have been shooting the center L and R. That being said after swapping front inserts around I found that I was able to shoot some decent groups on them. The 50 yard was fine though giving a clear picture like the other guys said. I should have brought more of them with me as I shot several of them at 25 before deciding to shoot at 50 as well.

I know the Kimbers are more expensive than they were years ago but I got the "rusty" Kimber for 420 out the door and for the money it cant be beat. If I were you Id consider one before they are gone. Id like to get another and scope it

Only going to post my 50 yard targets for today. The wind picked up this afternoon so I have a lot of vertical stringing with the 100 yards targets.. Ran out of time and didn't get to shoot the 25 yard. Maybe next weekend if I have time to get out.

I was really bummed to see my savage thrown that flyer on the first shot (shot left to right, bottom to top). otherwise i would have done awesome. Oh well 131 ties me.

One would think scoped would outscore irons but no I tied myself. True the CZ isnt a match rifle like my Kimber but for some reason I generally shoot better with irons. I guess its because I cant see the target well I dont stress it as much.

I am finding the same thing, in fact I haven't shot a scoped rifle in a couple of months. Seems with the peeps I shoot just as good and sometimes better than with a scope. Can't see my heart beat in the peeps like I do with the scope so I think I concentrate a little better.

Went shooting today at ASR and well some targets I did great others I would have done great if I shot all the shots that were required but I was hurried because the LA county Sheriff SWAT team shoots on the rifle range in the afternoon on the 2nd thursday of each month and we needed to leave by 1 and I only shot 2 shots per target for 50 irons. Im pissed I missed that because as you can see my Kimber is a tack driver at 50.
