This little gun is perfect for the survivalist minded. It's very light and very accurate right out of the box. I wish mags weren't so expensive though.

I'm waiting for order confirmation from Numrich; nothing so far. Hoped the wooden stock would have a longer pull, but that seems not to be the case. Back to the slip-on recoil pad for the sake of some extension, then.

It's a hard comparison to make on their sizes, my observations:

-The comb on the wood stock is higher and allows for better sight picture and cheek weld.

-The fore-end of the wood stock is about 1/8" longer than the synthetic stock.

-The length of pull on the wood stock is shorter, BUT I believe that is due to the rake and longer length (both not by much, but enough to give a feeling of shorter LOP) of the grip, not the buttstock being shorter than the synthetic one.

-The buttplate on the wood stack is not flush with the stock while the synthetic stock's buttplate is set into the stock.

Overall, the difference is notable, but not necessarily a negative one. For me the small changes add up to a much more secure feeling when shouldering the rifle; with the changes and the weight increase, it no longer feels flimsy and toy-like and feels more snug and secure. If I can get time off work and can make an Appleseed shoot or two, I might do a head to head with both stocks and give my impressions. Personally, I think the wood stock changes the feeling and handling of the rifle for the better.

Any idea of an extended butt plate or recoil pad one could use to extend the length of pull on the wooden stock? The notion of a recoil pad on a .22 is a bit odd to begin with, but I have these orangutan-like arms . . .

Personally I would do it the old school way with spacers and extensions. But you will have to sand / grind them to make them fit and blend in. But in the end it will look a lot better then anything you just slip on

D'oh!! I'm sorry, I knew I forgot something! I will say this; the stock is probably twice the weight of the synthetic one. It's solid and not hollowed out like the synthetic one. It increases the weight of the 795, but not so much that it's a nightmare to lug around a .22, it gives it a more sturdy and less toy-like feeling. I will try and get a small scale and take mine apart and get the weights of them; may have to run to the UPS Store down the block.

No biggie that is one thing I don't like about the marlin in stock form is it feels to me a bit nose heavy. I actually see it when my fiencee is shooting it for a long time. I really do like the stock though. Thanks for posting it up!

On another note. I got the tech sights zeroed in and omg what a difference! Funny thing is they were almost zeroed straight from the factory! 2 clicks to the left and 2 clicks up. Only thing is the front post dissapears with low light and a dark target other then that it's golden! Tried cci mini mags again and they shot flawless. Shot about 250-300 rounds zero issues and it seemed to be cleaner too less carbon fouling. But I'm starting to not like the plastic trigger guard and looking into a DIP set up.

Now it's getting hard to find .22lr ammo sigh......

This seems to be the only way I could think of extending the LOP; the stock seems too narrow for most slip-on pads. The screws used look to be common wood screws so I would say get whatever material, cut to shape and length, and use longer screws.

With the solid butt, the rifle points better for me and doesn't have that droopy feeling of being nose-heavy. Also, the added heft seems to balance it better and it seems to point more naturally when bringing up and shouldering the rifle. The added weight shouldn't be too detrimental, as it seems to balance the rifle and make it feel sturdier and more secure. I have the CCI MiniMags 36grHP and they shoot very well. I would say go for the DIP triggerguard and trigger kit; the wider trigger is nicer and it seems to work better than just replacing the triggerguard and having everything the DIP way than mix/match. With the stock trigger/triggerguard setup, you have pins and the DIP uses little Allen head screws instead; if mixing the two you have to use shims to fill the wider gap of the triggerguard when using the narrower stock plastic trigger. I got mine from JoeBobOutfitters and the price and shipping were lower than DIP's website and shipping was fast. Hope this helps.

Was browsing Numrich and came across this:

This synthetic stock was apparently made for the 7000 by Buttler Creek.
The 7000 is a heavy barrel variation of the 795. So the action should fit but the barrel channel will be a bit over sized... so you will have a free float barrel

Just thought I would pass it on.. I don't guarantee that it will fit.. but it should...

Just fyi those are hyper-velocity. You are not supposed to shoot hyper-velocity out of a 795. Make sure to check your buffer for cracks and bites taken out of it if you do...

Went to Center Mass in Vacaville as the madre had to pick up her M&P9C (Very proud day for me to see that and see that she's learned a lot and has taken on the responsibility of self defense. Shes a great shot too.) and I decided to bring the marlin along. At 12yds, the max distance the targets go back (indoor range), my friend and I had groups of 10 shots about the size of a nickel at best and slightly larger than a quarter at worst. We were shooting a leftover zombie target and various points on it and not really trying for groups, just to put 100 rounds for function-checking the magazines and action. Used 36gr CCI MiniMag HPs and they were great and I love this little rifle. It isn't going anywhere.
