The wait is over and I'm picking up my 795ss tomorrow. Looking forward to it. I also ordered 4 extra 10 round magazines tonight.

      Congrats! Welcome to the family!

Make sure to strip it down and clean it before you shoot it. The factory oil is pretty gummy and sometimes there's a bit of milling scraps in there.

This will help you take it apart:
My daughter and I put together a PowerPoint slide show on how to tear-down and re-assemble the Model 60 Action assembly. OttoMears was kind enough to create a PDF of it and BWGSTOCK was kind enough to reduce the file size. Thank you John and Bryan...

When removing the bolt be extra careful not to bend the recoil spring.

Got an email from Midway USA today. They have the 795 10 round mags in stock, on sale $18.99. Sale price till 5/31/12.

Not really the best price IMO but if you need them they have it in stock.

Yes, I believe it's possible, just watch out with the height of the tech sights interfering with the sight picture of the scope.

I'm pretty much a newbie to the 795 and I'm having some problems and hope someone can point me in the right direction.
First up like many I guess I had problems with my scope mounts walking so I bought the UTG RGPM2PA-25M4. I thought I got the right one and the reviews I read on this mount they talk about it working good on their 795 but my mount base is WAY wider than my rails .. what am I doing wrong here?

Next I had chronic feed issues with about 1 in 10 failure to feed. Bought another Marlin magazine and same problem. Took it to a gunsmith, paid $45 for him to tell me nothing is wrong (grrrrr). Finally did some research which I should have done in the first place and opened up the ears on my mags .035". Ran 50 rounds through after that with no failure to feed! Yay me! Anyway, need to get my scope mount sorted out .. help please!

Agreed the product id you posted is for dovetail which is correct. They must have sent you a picatiney rail on accident.

Never heard about opening up the magazines. But then again I've never had issues. What ammo btw?

Looking at the package it says "1 inch picatinny/weaver rings" If the model # is correct then I don't know what to order.

I had tried various ammo, Federal, Winchester, Remington all with problems. I was shooting Winchester after the mag adjustment and it seems to be feeding fine now .. at least after 50 rounds. What was happening before was the bullet missed the chamber and was contacting the top edge of the chamber rim which stopped the feed process. The theory I was told was that if you opened the mag ears slightly where the bullet exits it would decrease the upward angle of the bullet as it left the mag. That seems to have worked for me, at least so far.

Yea you don't want picatinny/weaver rings you want dovetail rings. The product ID on the package matches the id you ordered?

Interesting about the feed lips thanks for posting the tip in case someone here has that same issue. Glad you got it resolved!

OK, I think I have found the proper mount. But it seems that BOTH mounts, the piccatiny/weaver and the dove tail mount share the same model number which I find really odd. I ordered mine from Amazon after reading a review about it working great on a 795. I think maybe Amazon sometimes mixes reviews on similar same brand products. Oh well, I have another rifle I think the weaver mount will work on and if not then I'll go buy a rifle it fits hahah.

I just put one in jail too, get to pick it up on June 1st

Also an update if anyone is wondering, called Marlin today and they still dont have their magazines yet, should be getting it soon, keyword is "should", they are $18 each with shipping of $6 for one and $12 for two magazines. Probably should just get it from Midwayusa, think they are on sale right now for $18.95 or something.

Not sure if the Marlin 795 mags or the USGI slings are in stock, but CDNN has free shipping for orders over $50.

I just gotta say, I love my 795. Gotta be one of the best deals on a firearm.

Good Evening Fellow Marlin 795 owners,

Just put a brand new 795 in jail for 10 days. I'm excited about it as it compares to the world's best .22LR Rimfire Rifles. That said, I'm not assigning any " human qualities " to it. It's just a tool to be used to gain benefit for me and my family. I hope I never have to use it to survive but if I do probably the supplementary factor that isn't talked about as much is it's size and weight. A plus, considering the company it keeps with my Centerfire rifles. haha.

You guys wanna assign human qualities. I have 4 Mosin Nagants and have assigned a Female Russian name to each. haha.

                                Keep this thread alive,
