Mojave Lever Crew - Roll Call!

Thanks brother....I'm pretty sure you can still transfer pistols to <21.
I dunno though. Whatever happens with the laws changing, there will be plenty of time to do that when the time comes. If it were me, I wouldn't do it yet. Maybe a few that he wants/will appreciate/whatever, but I wouldn't do 80% yet.It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

If its still legal for him to receive pistols you can transfer to him all the guns you want to give him through CFARS for $19.00.
Just did something like that with my son

I need to work up a lead free load for 444 Marlin out of an early pre-70 24" rifle. Guess I should look in to bullets and order some up.
Right now I'm sitting under a tree with my bow hoping a buck is thirsty for this spring that's 35 yards down the hill from me.Comment

Just received a rifle my Grandfather and father had. Now it is mine.
It is a Marlin 22 cal. lever with a Hex barrel.
Hopefully with a serial number somebody may know what year it was made.
It is a Model 39. Ser# 556XX
Can anyone solve the mystery?^^ Said by some lunatic on the internetComment
-
556XX? Is that correct? Because that comes up as invalid.

according to this it's 1921-1925 if there's no prefix.. the serial lookup for Marlin's put that number in the 1800s so there must be specific serial data for those..
http://www.marlin-collectors.com/for...25%20to%201932.
The Marlin Model 39 was made in 3 different series from 1921 to 1939. The first series had a serial number with no letter prefix and was made between 1921 and 1925. The second series had the letter "S" as a prefix to the serial number and was made from 1925 to 1932. The last series was made from 1932 to 1939 and had a "HS" serial number prefix.
If your gun does not have a serial number prefix or the letter "S" prefix, then it is an earlier version, and you should not use modern, high speed ammunition in it. You should only use either standard velocity or target ammunition in it. The last version with the "HS" prefix are guns that were updated to use the new, high speed ammunition at the time.I started out with nothing - and I still have most of itComment
