1. Because ANY gun blowing up is a cause for concern.
2. Because a hissy fit over a new gun malfunctioning with reloads is a cause for derision.Comment

I didn't read all 5 pages but there is a similar thread on GlockTalk here:

If you were taking a crap one night, and suddenly 3 guys broke into your house and were hammering at your bathroom door, you'd pay $10,000 for a Glock 17L and 10 rounds....750.00 X 2 glocks = you got screwed
How much were the good guns at you LGS? You could have got one good one for less than the 2 glocks
Hey, its your money do what you want ,and be happy. My self, I would never buy a Glock at that price, and I don't care what model it is . I'm not a fanboy so I wouldn't pay 300-350 for one either ,guess that's why I don't own one.

Is it really cause for derision?
I just googled something like "Glock break-in" and in the very first result, a Glock noob asks Glockheads what kind of ammo to use during the break-in and if there's any other precautions he should take.
He is met with a universal, resounding "nope, don't need to break in a Glock. Should be GTG with the crappiest ammo."
Hey all, i'm a new member and just purchased my first glock for home protection. it's a glock 17. went with the 3rd gen, because it is a proven system of components("if it's not broken, don't fix it"). i haven't taken it to the range yet to break it in, because i am trying to get a few...
So when the gun works, it's because Glocks are perfect and always work no matter what you do. And if it doesn't work, it's because you're a dumb*** cheapskate. Got it.Last edited by Tovarish; 11-12-2014, 3:00 PM.Comment

You're making a common error. You perceive opponents in those who don't advise him it's a piece of crap. This is reverse fanboyism at its finest. Is it really cause for derision?

Additionally, you seek to use statements made by some folks against anyone who says it's not likely the pistol. I never told anyone Glocks will function with any ammo. I never told him to shoot reloads.
I don't care what ANY Glock fan has said, it's not advisable to break in any pistol with reloaded ammo. I've said so in this thread. Glock says to never shoot reloads, as do other mfrs.
Similarly, vague claims by the op that he was "told" Glocks will digest anything, and are the Ak of the pistol world, cannot erase common sense. That's not anyone's official stance, nor does one Glock having problems with, so far, one kind of reloaded ammo, invalidate some non existent standard that all Glocks will shoot anything.
It's a brand new pistol. I shoot mine from 200-500 rounds of high quality factory ammo before I trust them. Some never pause, some start with problems that clear up, some never work correctly.
Injecting questionable ammo into that mix is just not the smart way to do it. Add in the variables of modified magazines, the heavier slide of the L variant, etc.
Op has some detective work to do. It's not some Glock fantasy worship to advise him to start eliminating the variables with the ammo.
Disclaimer. I own Sigs, Rugers, Colts, Paras, Dan Wesson wheel gun, Rossis, and yes, a Glock. One.
I won it in a charity poker game, it cost me $5. Literally. Every single accessory and holster I have cost more than the pistol I bought it for. I think they are ugly, but they work. At least mine does. The only Unmodified Glocks I've seen that didn't run well were running aftermarket barrels, or were being sissy wristed. I haven't watched every person on earth shoot every Glock, I'm certain there are problem examples, just like Porsche and Chevy both turn out occasional lemons.
In any malfunctioning machine, you start eliminating the variables until you find out what's wrong. Step one here should be ammo. Step two should be the magazines. Step three would point toward an issue with the pistol itself.
I swear, these Glock threads are turning into the bad cop threads of OT.Originally posted by tony270It's easy to be a keyboard warrior, you would melt like wax in front of me, you wouldn't be able to move your lips.Originally posted by repubconservPrint it out and frame it for all I careOriginally posted by el chivoI don't need to think at all..XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOriginally posted by pjsigYou are talking to someone who already won this lame conversation, not a brick a wall. I believe you are misunderstanding my intentions.
I made no such error. I don't expect everyone to tell him it's junk. I don't know if it's somehow a lemon Glock or not, and I don't care.
I just find it amusing that people are so quick to blame this guy (who seems an experienced shooter) for limp wristing or using crappy ammo. I believe the guy's concern is quite valid: that his pistol is simply not doing as advertised (see "Perfection.") and it is irritating that he gets an earful for disrespecting his weapon, which MUST be perfect because it's a Glock.
(BTW I never use reloads on my own pistols and certainly would not when breaking in.)Comment

If a gun is hypersensitive to "limp wristing" or ammo selection, that gun is a long way off from "perfection". My old HiPoint C9 ate everything I put in it regardless of "limp wristing".
One advantage of a HiPoint over the glock, it's a cheep gun that's actually cheep to buy.Comment

The very first thing I do when I have a failure, by the way, is firm up my grip and try again. I can't imagine this didn't occur to OP.
Or I could be giving him too much credit. But it seems a little odd that nobody is willing to suspend their disbelief and admit that it's impossible for every product Glock makes to be "perfect."Comment
