I would only support him if his opponent is anti gun. We need a shall issue Sheriff, he is not that. He denied my permit after the previous Sheriff approved it.

Sorry to read this, but as he explained to me in person, there are things that the background check brings up. I'm not the Sheriff and cannot speak to his reasoning -- just making an announcement for those who may be interested in the raffle.

          Non-Citizen

Hi, I'm a legal Resdent Alien living in Vallejo for a few years now and I'm looking to get a CCW permit. As best I can tell from my research Resident Aliens are NOT prohibited, can anyone here confirm that? Am I likely to get rejected in Solano County, given that I'm not a citizen?

          Thanks!

There was a very good CBS news segment (video w/transcript) re. CCWs in the SF Bay Area. One of the main points was that in the Bay Area, only Solano issues many permits, and that only happened since a lawsuit back in 2009.

            Here's the link:

Anyone know any details about that lawsuit? Who filed it? In state or federal court? What the case name was? The cause of action/claim? Did we win at the trial court? Was it appealed and if so, did we win there?

If anyone knows that CCW instructor interviewed, please ask him NOT to say that we'll never get CCWs for mere self-defense. Never is a very long time.... IL, incl Chicago, will start accepting applications for their new Shall Issue permits (where they don't even require you to say why you want one), in less than 6 weeks and the IL state police anticipate 300,000 applicants in the first year alone!

If anyone knows the Solano sheriff, you may want to share w/them the link in my sig line for "Concealed Carry Saves Lives" where I've got info re. ~120 CCW incidents. I've run into the "character limit" for posting, so for the most recent incidents (5, IIRC), I've only provided links. Since these incidents only get local news coverage in other states, it will encourage the Solano sheriff to know that what they is doing is right and wise, as well as upholding our 2nd Amendment rights. The direct link is here:

If I heard it correctly, the reported said it was a "grand jury" finding. But then my hearing is a bit compromised. Too many unprotected discharges.

Right, but it didn't say any more. I'd just like to learn more about the case and its history.

Good info in that CBS link you provided. I searched for the Sheriff's email and could not find it but here is a link to the CCW coordinator contact info. Maybe she can forward the info to the sheriff?

The Solano CCW coordinator is Kellie Sayre. A very competent and efficient worker. She has really streamlined the CCW process and is probably one of the reasons CCW issue rates have gone up in Solano County.

Also, I managed to speak to the sheriff at an event and he told me he plans to continue his support of the 2nd Amendment.

Giving this a bump since, so far, NO ONE has contacted me to help with an outreach in Solano Co. This is especially bad since Solano (and Napa after it), is the county that issues the most CCWs out of all 9 SF Bay Area counties.

But if no one who lives in or regularly drives thru Solano will volunteer to help out, Solano, and Napa, will be major opportunities lost....

My ccw has been renewed! I was a bit worried with the new sherriff, but every thing went fast and smooth. Just posting this for those that may be worried about their renewal.

The Sheriff's website states that residents of the county can apply. Does anybody know if working in Solano is a consideration for CCW? I live in a non-issue county but work in Vallejo (for someone else; it's not my own business property). Any insight would be appreciated.
