Employment/business based CCWs are only good for 90 days and are rarely granted. Not worth trying. If you work in Vallejo, why not move to Solano Co? Benecia and parts of Vallejo would be good bets.

      Nice

Did someone send you a reminder before the actual expiration date? I'm curious if it's in the form of a phone call or snail mail. Thanks!

I don't believe they send expiration notices or at least I didn't get any. The license does have the expiration date on it. I knew I was coming up for renewal and called about how to renew. You have to re-qualify with your weapon and fill out an application including good cause statement all over again. You have to pretty much redo the whole process minus livescan. It is much faster to renew than initial application. From the time I turned in my targets to the time my renewed license was ready for pickup was around 8 days.

Thank you for the heads up -- I just don't want to wait until the last minute to get things going, especially with tax season crawling by. That's when my dining room table becomes a nightmare of receipts!

I can plan my fishing & pistol matches a bit better now

Does anybody know the current process time from initial turn in of application to notification of next steps (or denial)? Not complaining about the good work Kellie does at all - just want to quit being a kid at Christmas every time I check the mail...

Turned in the initial application around 12/27...

FYI, I emailed Kellie to ask how far in advance I should send in my paperwork for renewal, and she said about 3 weeks prior to expiration. I got my new permit about 2 weeks after submitting.

Its my understanding they will contact you by mail within 90 days for your next step(or denial) I hope someone will correct me if i'm wrong.

I expect but dont know, if you get the go ahead for the next step then the good cause/app was probably accepted..

Up to 90 days sounds about right, If I remember correctly it was a little over 2 months for me. I was contacted by phone.

Thanks Connman and fuenstock! Turns out I got a letter in the mail telling me I didn't send a copy of my CDL with the application. I emailed Kellie a copy of my license on the 18th, so I guess my clock gets reset to 1/18...

                      And the waiting begins...

Heads up for everyone waiting for their CCW in Solano...

I had my livescan done on Dec 19th and Kellie didn't receive my eligibility letter from DOJ until Feb 3rd. Not sure if this had to do with all of the other problems DOJ had with changes on the first of the year, or if there's something else going on. Initial application was turned in Oct 1st. Hope no one else is running this long...

Good news! I had a paperwork snafu (my fault) and even though I turned in my paperwork in late Dec, I don't think the Sheriff saw it until a week or two ago.

                                Hopefully I hear something soon...
