It was good, I even asked if I could shoot from concealment which he had no problem with. I've not done a lot of shooting on an indoor range before so the noise was bothersome but not a big issue.

He commented on my attention to safe handling and also smooth presentation. I attribute both of these to my recent 4-day defensive handgun course I took at Front Sight.

The classroom portion is like every other class I've ever taken... some good, some fluff, some things I disagreed with. Overall, I'd say he knows what he's talking about even if I don't like his style of teaching.

Now to mail in my targets & completion paperwork. Does anyone have a timeline for when to expect the permit after submitting the targets?

If/when you get approved to do your training you can contact any one of the approved instructors to discuss the details. You've come this far, you'll take the class.

The penal code states the class is not to exceed 16hrs, it doesn't state a minimum. That being said, I think Solano has some minimum when they certify an instructor to give CCW qualifications.

In my case, I was able to cruise through a lot of the material by demonstrating knowledge/skill upfront. This is not usually the case according to him.

Initial training has no set minimum, but renewals are required to be at least 4 hours.

Took 10 days to get my permit after turning in targets.

That's revenue into their budget of $400 to $500 a day. Carry Licenses could be a money maker in these austere times.

It took almost 90 days for my livescan. It seems to vary though.
