    Torquen,

That's great to hear on the one hand, disappointing that it took 14 weeks and a day however. Nevertheless, thanks for the update!

    Ranger,

Sounds like you are in a tough spot.

I actually may not be in that bad of shape being I am right around 14 weeks myself. Maybe I will hear soon. If they are getting through two or three a week as someone indicated, I could be a week or two off if they were telling me the truth that I have half a dozen in front of me.

Ranger I was in the same spot. Got through with DOJ and same answer. If you already went through the process then SJSO is doing the background. They will call you personally and ask questions. Once the questions were answered it took two days and I received the call I was approved.

Thank you, that makes me feel better.

Anybody know if he was only approving to get elected? Is this FUD? I am looking to apply very soon. As soon as my paperwork is all in SJC. Drivers license, and car reg, etc. Moving at end of month to the 209 and ready to go.

Can somebody answer how many carry firearms can be on their LTC card?

Answer: Yes, I just read application. Three are listed.

On top of this, can any changes be made or all or once? I heard in Sacramento no add ons.

            Modification of Existing Permits:
$10.00 fee for ALL modifications to existing permits. Check, cashier’s check or money order only made payable to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.

I will go through thread but if somebody knows, please answer or pm (if wanting to avoid a dupe posting)

Answered own questions by reading from. Keeping post if any curious as I was. Or mod can delete. Thanks!

But still would like to know if they are honoring Peruta as when waiting to be re-elected.

Good job answering your on questions. I'll add that besides the $10 fee to add/change a firearm once you have your permit, you will also need to get qualified with the firearm. That qualification will cost money. If you start your application process and then decide to make a change prior to the final permit being signed, you can do so at no charge. So, you can list 1 firearm to get the application submitted and then if approved, you can take up to 3 firearms to the CCW class and have those additional firearms added to the permit before it is signed by the Sheriff. This means that you will have around 3 months from the initial application meeting to finalize what firearms you want on your permit.

As for if the Sheriff is still accepting "personal protection / self defense" as good cause for a permit (post-election), yes. So far he is, but they are falling further and further behind with the approval process. They claim its a combination of DOJ delays and their inability to keep up with the volume of applicants. There are now applicants that have been waiting over 90 days as posted in this thread. Some of those are being told it could be several more weeks.

The one thing I do not know is how long you need to be a SJC resident prior to applying. You should look into that since you stated that you will be moving to this county. I know that some counties have a minimum length of residency requirement before you can apply. Not sure if SJC has such a requirement.

              Good luck.

Based on my own experience, I would assume that's a no. I had literally moved back to CA from another state about two weeks prior to my initial interview. Of course I made sure to obtain a Cali DL and register my vehicle with Cali DMV prior to applying though.

My drivers license still has my elk grove adress from sacramento county. I brought in several utility bills from the current month they didn't say a word during the interview. I'm 9 weeks in and still waiting to hear

Nor*Cal, thanks for you input. Same goes for Mr. Joshua.

I hadn't read about any provisions regarding length of time living in county so hope none apply. And having all valid documents in hand when living in SJC county are good to go forward and process.

Went by today to drop off my "official change of address" documentation and to change/add a couple handguns to my pending application.

I interviewed on April 16th and was told perhaps a couple weeks more. They are going as fast as they can and are "currently working on April 6th right now." I completed my 2-day course with Gray Ops this past weekend so I'm GTG <crossing fingers>.

There were a handful of people there in the waiting room for interviews and I think I overheard them say on the phone that they are only taking appointments for interviews one day a week now (I'm guessing probably so they can catch up).

Other than getting a little sunburned it was fantastic. Learned a great deal, lots of one-on-one training and the second day was almost 100% tactical work (off hand, moving, barriers, several different shooting positions, etc). I've already signed up for their carbine course in October and will probably take the next handgun course "skill builder" in the fall/winter. I'd highly recommend!

They had you shooting off hand, in different positions, moving, and shooting around barriers in your CCW course?
