When I called last week they just said another couple of weeks. Didn't look me up so I don't know that calling will do any good.

So I believe the law states that it is 90 days from the application or 30 days from the date they receive the response from the DOJ/FBI/etc. Whichever is later

In your previous responses, you mentioned that the Sheriff has not received the Background check yet. Here is the relevant PC, emphasis mine.

26205. The licensing authority shall give written notice to the
applicant indicating if the license under this article is approved or
denied. The licensing authority shall give this notice within 90
      days
of the initial application for a new license or a license
renewal, or 30 days after receipt of the applicant's criminal
background check from the Department of Justice, whichever is later.
If the license is denied, the notice shall state which requirement
      was not satisfied.
When I called at 7 weeks to add my 3rd serial number, I was told everything was back and I'm just waiting on the Sheriff. They didn't let me add the third serial at that time.

Yesterday was 9 weeks for me, was hoping to have it before I go on a road trip starting tomorrow.

Ranger- have you thought about calling them and asking status? When they tell you nothing yet, ask if you can come down and pay for a live scan again. That way you get a number to check at least. I bet yours is lost in the system somewhere.

after reading these responses I guess i can relax a little. I had an interview 7 weeks 1 day ago. I also believe I may have missed a speeding ticket but I had told him that when I had my interview. Thanks for all the updates.

I will probably call them tomorrow which will be my 90 days. I called them at 8 weeks and was told that they would call me when they knew something. I will call and just make sure I haven't fallen through the cracks.

I applied and did my livescan on 2/28. I called today and Rachel told me that this seems like a really long time. She said they had a background investigator put on my case on the 4th of last month, which she said was also a long time. She transferred me to the background investigator and I left him a voice mail inquiring about my status. Hoping he will call me back today. At this point they are past the 30 days since they got my information back from the FBI and DOJ. Do I have any options besides nagging them?

I called and spoke to Rachael as well. She said that they had not heard back from DOJ and that I should call DOJ. It was challenging being that I did not have a livescan number. I got bounced around for about an hour on the phone with DOJ holding for this person and that. After all of that, I finally ended up with a voice mail. Hopefully DOJ calls me back soon.

Just called the DOJ livescan system and was informed there was no applicant status (interviewed 4/23), so a call to the Sheriff's Dept revealed that they did not get results back yet. I had concern that there was 'no status' as opposed to results 'pending' or something of that nature. Was told there were applicants who interviewed 4/2 that had not gotten results back either. The wait continues.....

Update: After going around in circles on the phone tree trying to get a hold of an actual person (don't bother, I don't think the DOJ has actual people working for them), I tried the hotline again but used the keypad vs speaking and got results back. Apparently they were processed 4/23, so again, the wait continues....

12 weeks today. I just spoke with Emma who told me that the hold up is not the DOJ, but the overwhelming number of apps being processed. She said it would be at least another month to six weeks!

I don't know which story to believe. I just wish they would give me the call...

I'm at 13 weeks today. Interview on April 9. Livescan/ FBI check came back the same day. I don't know if there's a way to tell about DOJ. Another 4 to 6 weeks? Seems like they've slowed the approval process down to a crawl.

Hmmm... Just thinking out loud here, but I wonder if now that the voting is done the guy running Nottingham has decided to stall, or at least dramatically slow down, until Peruta is settled.

14 weeks 1 day. Got the call today. Approved.

I talked to the investigator the other day and he told me they are extremely swamped. So I would not call and bug them. They are knocking a few out each week and it sounds like there are only two or three personnel able to do the backgrounds.

It has been over three months for me. I called and they said they still had not heard from DOJ. I called DOJ and after getting bounced all over the place (I actually have direct lines to several people at DOJ) I was told by DOJ that the SO had not submitted any background check on me.

I called the SO back and told them. I got bounced around a bit and then told that since I did not livescan and since I had applied before, they use the old background check and do not submit a new one. I was told that there is one person that handles people that have been denied in the past and that he was very busy. I was told that there were half a dozen people in front of me on his list and that they could not estimate how long it would take. I asked why people in the same situation that applied after me had been approved and was told that "each case is handled on an individual basis" whatever that means.

I suspect that mine may be held up due to local politics but have no proof.
