"SAN FRANCISCO – A federal appeals court says people do not have a right to carry concealed weapons in public under the 2nd Amendment.

An 11-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals issued the ruling Thursday.

The panel says law enforcement officials can require applicants for a concealed weapons permit to show they are in immediate danger or otherwise have a good reason for a permit beyond self-defense.

The decision overturned a 2014 ruling by a smaller 9th Circuit panel."

It won't just be renewals that are in jeopardy...it'll be everyone in here currently in-line/pending for their initials as well. Moore wont be able to recant on one group and not the other...this indeed will be very interesting...

I don't know what to do. I need to start my renewal next week. Do I just put self defense or make a statement. Last time I made a statement and they told me to scratch it out and put self defense. This just sucks.

I would be surprised if Moore changes his stance on CCW. He could have easily stopped issuing for "self defense" after the case went en blanc. At that point he had already won his re-election and could have reverted back to his old stance on CCW.

Don't let us down Sheriff.

FYI, for all us local San Joaquin county residents. We have spoken with the Sheriff about the ruling on the CCW case. They have stated that NOTHING will change in their policy. They will continue with the SHALL ISSUE policy now in place.
If you want to apply and receive your CCW in San Joaquin county, they will issue as SHALL ISSUE.

We should all consider sending Sheriff Moore an email of support and appreciation for his CCW policy. At the very least, if you run into the sheriff, thank him in person.

If he doesn't backed out and pull the plug on ccws. We gotta wait and see if he continues to issue as per above post. If so i will have my buddy- sherriffs officer - go personally thank him on behalf of all of us.

Deputy Sheriff*** the only "Officers" we have are Correctional Officers. I work at the Office and from my understanding things will carry on, 0 changes.
