The standard DOJ application is mandated by law...

Are you sure they are not re-writing policy?

      SJ Sherriff

It's true folks. Just got my re-issued permit with no restrictions. Melanie is answering the phones and making a list of addresses and e-mails to send the new forms out to as soon as they come in. Took long enough to get to this point. Still voting for Pat Withrow.

Hmm looks like the flood gates have broken! Starting to hear reports of people being approved in San Joaquin county!

Now that the 9th Circuit ruled the way it did in Peruta, is this a good time to submit my application to the Stockton Police Dept., Or should I hold off and wait for further details?

I stopped by the SPD website, and noticed the CCW application process has not been updated with no current information whatsoever. Now, can I turn in the current application with out the good cause statement?

I find myself a bit anxious, I really want to get the CCW application in and started before any reversed decision is made. I also feel as though SPD will come up with something else to use against everyone from exercising their 2nd amendment rights, again.

I won't hold my breath for those forms to come in. that is for sure. I hope everything works out soon, but I doubt it. Withrow for sure. I am still waiting on my lawn signs from him.

Contact the San Joaquin Sheriff for the CCW. Heard positive things out of the office there from some CalGunners. (209) 468-4342

Got my appointment for March 19 at 10. The new app now reads as followed,
"Personal protection may be considered a valid "good cause". I hope there's not some catch the phrase "may be considered".

Question for you. I called and spoke to Melanie. She said she will email me the new form/application. Do I have to wait to set up an appointment. She said nothing about an appointment. Thanks!!!

They are trying to get people to fill out the application prior to giving them an appointment date. My guess is that they want people to read all of the documents first to make sure they are aware of all the requirements and fees before they give them an interview date.

So, as soon as you receive the paperwork from Melanie, look it over in detail and if you wish to proceed call her back and schedule your interview. It is only on Wednesdays and I wouldn't be surprised if March and April are all booked up.

                      Good luck.

She said the same thing to me. I called right after I got she sent me the email about the new application. I said I want to make an appointment. She told me I have to fill it out first. I said huh? Told her I wanted an appointment again, and she said, well I guess you will have it filled out before then. Then she made my appointment.

Also do not bother with Manteca PD...

They require, 93$ finger print fee upfront which is fine if they are shall issue.

The counter lady stated they haven't changed the CCW issuance policy ( their lawyers are reviewing the recent decision. So that means apply at own risk. )

3 character letters from non relatives

proof of ownership of your 2 firearms to be listed on the CCW

A sixteen hour ccw training class BSIS certified,

Also you have to attend one of their dept qualification days once per year for 35$, they only offer this twice a year.
