I can't believe how we are being treated by the sheriff . Crime is through the roof in all of San jouquin county . It seems stockton has a murdr a week and we have to wait 6 months or more to get approved for a CCW to try and leagly protect our families . When we purchase a firearm it is done in minutes why is it taking so long to get the background check done . If you can buy it you should be able to carry it . Lets all remember this when sherif More wants to get elected again or to another office

I applied and had my interview 4/23. Emailed Melanie on 9/23 to check on any update since no one contacted me. Got a call the same day from the interviewer on the 4/23 he told me that they are still working on early April and to be patient. . To my surprise now I see that they working on late april with some people are approved as late as 4/30. It just seem they are picking and choosing not going by order. Im thinking because of my ethnicity or my past sheriff denial at a time when he did not want to approve for any good cause the average person without a $1000 donation check that I will be denied again. I was hoping our vote will not go to waist but apparently he don't care for vote any more or you have to be of certain kind. I do have a ccw from another state and nothing legally disqualify me for a California ccw but what can I say..... Sorry y'all just frustrated and venting. .

It just shows you how much Sheriff More does not care about the people he is suppose to serv. There is no other county department with this pour of customer service . Would you put up with waiting 6 months for a license to get married 6 months for a building permit 6 months for building inspection 6 months for a dog license 6 months for business license etc. When is he going to do what ever it takes to speed up the process .

They did tell me on the phone that sometimes the "easier" applications are being processed first, regardless of the order received. I asked what "easier" meant. They said that the applicants with background info that will take little to no work to verify, are being bumped to the front of the line.

A few months before the next election. Just like this last time around. But no one listened then, so I doubt that enough people will listen next time, either.

If Pat Withrow had won, you would all be carrying right now.

I spent 20 minutes with the investigater when I turned in my ap . Answered his question and gave him all the information about my background witch is spotless last speeding ticket 30 years ago no nagetive contact with law enforcement . The sherif office could run any of us through their clets system and check if we had a criminal record in that same 20 minutes . What are they looking for . The way I see it if the state and federal government says I'm responsible enough to own and posess a hand gun what more does the sherif need to know. And we wait

If that were to be the case, I should be carrying already. Since I had applied previously and my file had a handwritten note that said "passed background no good cause"(the interviewing investigator showed it to me), mine should have been one of the "easier" apps to process.

I think that since the election, the priority level on this dropped significantly and the manpower was pulled. I've had my fingers crossed for so long that they hurt now...

Received a call from SO/Investigator on Sep 18 asking a few questions.

Picked up my permit on Sep 24; no restrictions. I'm now packing!

                      Public service notice:

Interviewed last week of April. Approved last week.

Sheriff Moore is approving CCWs, just slowly and cautiously. Be patient.

                        Congrats on your ccw.

This is frustrating to say the least. I interviewed 4/23. I emailed the sheriff when he was campaigning and told him I applied befor and that he denied me on lack of good cause only so i asked if he will approve me now since he approve for self protection. nothing have changed in my case he told i shuld be issued a ccw. Now people are being approved past my interview you date just frustrated me and make lose faith in our sheriff. .. again. . .

I'm in the same boat, squeeky clean record, denied by Moore for lack of good cause back in 2010/2011. I called to ask why a friend (and coworker) got the call before me, since we both had interviews on 4/30, but mine was an hour earlier. That was the answer I was given. The only difference between our backgrounds, is my CCW denial by Moore a few years back (again, only for lack of good cause).

Happy for all who have received their CCW .But I take offense to the sherif issuing (slowly and cautiously ) take a look around 5 killed I. Stockton hellow Mcfly we have a problem . The p.d. and sherif department no mater how hard they try can't protect us and the sherif has drug his feet on issuing permits I guess since he can be armed that is all that maters . What kind of additional info or moral character does he need that the state and Feds already ask when you purchase a handgun . Is he so much smarter than them
