Sac is a mess with online appointments. My buddy has been trying for a while every day to get his finial appointment. It's so much better to be able to call and schedule with someone over the phone. It takes me less than 5 minutes to call and make an appointment. So much easier.Anyone with a contact in Sheriff Moore's CCW dept should contact them and suggest they look into putting their CCW process online. It saves BOTH the department and applicants (new and renewal) time, money and effort.
Pass this article along to them: http://www.sacbee.com/news/local/cri...121987214.html
I'm sure there are others, but so far I know San Bernardino, Sac, Fresno, Stanislaus, Monterey, Placer, Solano and Yolo have all put their CCW process online and San Benito expects to put their application process online sometime this month.
Renewals are done entirely online (no appointment necessary) saving office staff valuable time.Comment

You know that Sac only announced online apps on Tue, Dec 20th, just 2 months ago, right?Sac is a mess with online appointments. You know that with ANY system transition there are problems, right?
Yep, so much faster....Comment

You mentioned Sacramento. I stated how much of a pain it's been for my buddy having to log in literally 50 times a day trying to get an appointment and still to this day has not been able to get one.
Now you come on and say "they have only had the online system in place for two months". Yup two months and it's still a huge cluster.
My father just finished his renewal. He called and set up an appointment a week out, took his refresher class, walked in and handed him his cert and app. They called a few weeks later and said come pick it up when you get close to the expiration so you don't loose out on time. Walked in and picked it up.
Pretty easy.Comment

"Having" to log in literally 50 times a day? And he's still not getting one? Maybe he should try 500 times a day, or 5,000 or 50,000 times per day.
Too bad your buddy couldn't figure out that when a computer system isn't working or is down, as the saying goes, doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.
Everyone can read my original post. I said he announced the coming change 2 months ago.
Please don't make up quotes to set up a strawman argument against me....

I wonder if those needless calls and appointments/office visits for a renewal are part of the reason tummy06 is coming up on a year waiting for a CCW....

Not to get off track arguing, but logging in and checking is exactly what sac ccw dept told my buddy to do. I was sitting right next to him. They said when the calendar is not coming up it's full. And to check back as many times as you can during the day as something might pop up.
Back to San Joaquin county. I'm glad permits are still coming out. Good luck everyone.Comment

Additional question for the application....pretty sure I know the answer, but would like to confirm.
In San Joaquin County we are only allowed 3 on the ccw permit. Right now I only have 1. So if I want all 3 filled out, I have to purchase those BEFORE I start the year+ long application process?Comment

They go by what is on your qualification diploma when you go down to pick up your CCW license. You may have 1 now during your initial interview but that really doesn't matter because they just go by what you turn in when picking up the CCW. Picked up my renewal this morning. Happy me for 2 more years.Additional question for the application....pretty sure I know the answer, but would like to confirm.

So if I understand you correct, I can fill out my app right now....with just the 1 handgun. And when I take the course with all 3 guns (since I'll have bought the other 2 by then), the diploma will have all 3 and they will all automatically go on the permit? They go by what is on your qualification diploma when you go down to pick up your CCW license. Just don't want to get told I only get 1 because that was all that was on my original application, you know?Comment

You understand correctly. The officer that interviews you will confirm that. As you purchase your firearms call and have them add to your app because they will check to see they are registered. So if I understand you correct, I can fill out my app right now....with just the 1 handgun.
