I called San Joaquin Sheriff Office last week and they said they are working up to February 22nd applications. I went in to apply on Feb 29th last year. They said that I should hear back within a month. They said it all varies due to how extensive the background check goes for each individual.Comment

Just got the call today. I was approved!
Here's my timeline. If you're close, just keep waiting. They'll get to it.
2/8/16 - Applied
2/7/17 - "Interview" email/Application submitted for final approval
3/15/17 - Call that I was approved."If a man hasn't found something worth dying for, he isn't fit to live." - Martin Luther King Jr.

Now that I'm past the application stage, I think it's fine to mention this, but at the 2/7/17 interview/email one of the follow-up questions was about a traffic ticket I had received in 1996 when I was 19 years old. Thankfully I fought the ticket and was found not guilty, but I thought it was weird that it was even brought up since they only ask for moving violations for 7 years prior."If a man hasn't found something worth dying for, he isn't fit to live." - Martin Luther King Jr.

I got called by my background investigator on 3/17/17 after applying 2/29/16. He asked me some questions to clarify some things and asked me to get a letter from my employer stating I was authorized to bring a weapon to work. My boss sent replied all to the email so I am assuming he will see it on Monday the 20th. Hopefully this process goes promptly. I don't really have any background that I can see that would draw out this process too long. Thanks for all those that contributed to this thread. It has helped me in my journey and process towards getting my CCW.

Reading from the above messages, #1 will basically go over your application. And if you don't change your CDL and registration addresses, you will need to explain it to them. Which I think may count against you.Originally posted by doc66Hi All,
Advanced apologies as Im sure this has been asked. I have gone through past threads and have seen a few answers- but would like to confirm. Thanks in advance for any information as well.
03/28/17- called to make appointment to submit my application. Given date of 04/27/17.
Questions:
1. What will happen on 04/27? (what does the appointment entail- turing the application in?)
2. Proof of residency- I moved about 10 months ago. I have a lease and xfinity cable bill under my name. But my CDL and car registration (things use for firearms purchased typically) still has my old address. I still use that address because family live in that house and my CDL is not up for renewal yet. (should I just change my address with DMV prior to 04/27?)
I haven't looked anywhere upstream, but I would recommend you change your CDL and car registration address to the one you live at now, and not the one 10 months ago. Even though the addresses match on the CDL and car registration, it's not where you live.
3. The question about speeding tickets. Whats the best way to get the exact information- call the DMV or do I have to go and get my driving record? I have a rough month/year the ticket occurred. But I don't have any specifics- exact date, citation # etc. Should I get this as well?
I would head down to the DMV and get the 10 year information request. I think it is 5$ or 2$. The thing is, do *NOT* get the form online. It won't show you your entire record for the last 10 years, just any open tickets.
4. Any other information you can give me on what to expect on and after 04/27.
You can take care of #2 and #3 at the DMV. It sucks to have to go, but I would just show up when they are open if your day allows (7am/8am?) and take care of it as fast as possible. You will get your registration and CDL mailed to you before the 4/27 interview. But I would not set an appointment, because those can be 1-3 weeks in advance, and you won't have your CDL/registration mailed in time for the interview.this is a signatureComment
