Can anyone here who's gone through the CCW renewal process in San Joaquin tell me how long they had to wait, from application to actually getting the renewed permit? Mine expires in October. Thanks.
If the US 1st amendment were treated like the 2nd amendment by US politicians, we will need a license to speak in public, need a background check to buy a book, and can only buy one every 30 days. My renewal was approved in 27 days. I applied 3 months before my original expires. Went down and took my certification class. Will be down to pick up my renewal on Feb 21.

I submitted my renewal 3 months early. Then completed the 4hr refresh training and obtained certificate. About 1 week before the expiration date I made an appointment to pick up the new permit. Keep in mind the new expiration date will be 2 years from the date you get your new one.

To those wondering how long the renewal process is, I emailed the Sheriff and I received the following reply:

"HELLO Mr. XXXXXXX, you can call to schedule your renewal three months before expiration. Have a great week!!"

Well, that gives me hope. I applied about a month after you. Guess, I'll just wait some more.

I applied one week before you, dylan199, and am still waiting. Any day now, any day now, I shall be approved. Maybe the app fell off the table and behind a desk!

I am coming up for renewal at the end of March and called today 1/25/17 for an appointment. They scheduled me for 1//31/17. I was pretty happy to get that early of an appointment considering how long it took to get the initial one. Is self defense / personal protection still the best "good cause" statement?

Thank you. I just found on the Sheriffs website that "personal protection or self defense is sufficient to establish good cause".

For renewal you don't have to make an appointment. Just go in on I think it's Monday and Tuesday and they will take care of the interview. That information is also on the application. I went in on a Tuesday and it only took a few minutes and I was out of there.

What is the timeline for issuance once you turn in your application?
