^^ Yep, things were supposedly going to be better. Definitely slower now, from what I have seen. Very disappointing.

Good news is on the horizon. They are in the process of implementing an online application/renewal system that will speed up the process for everyone. And we will soon be getting plastic licenses instead of the laminated paper.

Good news indeed, thanks. No excuse for allowing permits to expire but it is good news.

When I initially went in to pick up my first CCW almost 3 years ago, at about the longest wait period. I asked the desk lady how many they were processing every week. She stated they were doing about 20, but it had slowed to about 10.

I really don't see how they are swamped.

I really don't see how a online system is going to streamline a thing.
Hopefully I am wrong, but I would guess it will get worse!

Any word on if they are going to allow more than 3 guns on permit?

Potentially disconcerting news coming from SJSO about possible temporary program suspensions at 11 AM today.

4.5 years of labor/contract negotiations, some people leaving because of that, temporary personnel cutbacks. It does not look like Professional Standards is affected. Apparently the chopper will be seeing less airtime as well.

For the renewal is "Self Defense" still sufficient enough for good cause?

It worked for me when I renewed in April of this year.

My permit expires end of Feb, 2020. When should I call and/or submit my renewal application. Also, what is the process to re-apply. Is it the same background check and so on like a new applicant? Thanks in advance.

They are recommending applying for renewal four months before your expiration date instead of the three months the website says. All the information you need for renewal is on the SJCSO website.
