I really doubt SJSO (or any agency really) is going to be petty and put someone's application at the bottom of the queue because they called once asking for a status update after three months. Even for San Joaquin who has been issuing prior to Bruen it's taking a while to process.Leave a comment:

Has anybody here had their interviews or been issued lately? Or, are they aware of anybody having had their interview or been issued in the recent weeks/months?
I have a buddy that applied on April 5 of this year and got his Livescan bumped up to April 15. The Livescan fully cleared on July 29. This buddy of mine hasn't heard a peep from the S.O. since attending his Livescan.Leave a comment:

I submitted my application for renewal on July 11th. I received a text on September 27th saying my renewal have been approved. I did not have a chance to take my free qualification class until October 4th. My permit expired on the 7th but they did not have an appointment to pick up available that fit my schedule until October 20th. I went a couple of weeks without a permit unable to carry.Leave a comment:

Overall this was the easiest renewal I have had yet. Usually they at least do a phone interview but this year there was no contact. It was simple. I just filled out my stuff on low submitted the documents I had available and did not have any contact with a person until I picked up my permit. The only items I needed to bring where my training certificate, my ID, and my expired permit.
For those of you that have not known in a while, be aware that you now go through a metal detector. I had a knife on me which they offered to hold rather than making me go back to my car.Leave a comment:

Complete required training and weapon qualification. (New Applicants: DO NOT take any firearm training
courses prior to receiving official notification that your CCW has been approved) . This what is stated on the SJSO website. Talked to a friend of mine this morning and he said he could not complete his renewal application without the training certificate. He has his class this weekend and will ask them about it. Sure looks like renewals need to take the class first. It was never this way before, so I'm just trying to get the correct info.Leave a comment:

I know when I went through this around this time last year it took me about 3 months. I'm just wondering if this is now normal. I'm interested to hear from folks who applied/had their Livescan around the same time as my buddy.Leave a comment:

I have a friend in San Joaquin country about to start her CCW process.
Should she wait until she's taken the class to put in her application/live scan... or is it like other counties where it can be done in parallel? (and of course, not finally approved until done).
Also, for this county, is there a shooting qualification needed for the CCW class? She's shopping for a pistol now, and it'll take a few weeks until she finds the right one and goes through the 10 day wait.
TIA!
1 Apply online
1a Choose livescan appt during application process
2 Go to livescan appointment
3 get approval
4 take 16 hour CCW course
There may be several weeks between some of these stepsLast edited by Bcvrmc_dad; 10-12-2022, 10:06 PM.Leave a comment:

Yeah, that’s the “besides some basic minimums” part that you deleted from what I posted above.Leave a comment:
