Also Does anyone know the Sheriffs stance on carrying with standard mags that were legally acquired? I see on their website that the sheriffs office does not provide legal advice on firearms or related equipment, and was just curious if anyone knows if they have a written policy about them anywhere?
They have no official stance on it meaning you are ok. Withrow is fairly pro gun and is pro self defense. He told me at one point when I was grilling him when he was first running because I did not really trust him not to change his position after being elected something to the effect of, "I have stood toe to toe with bad guys and exchanged gunfire. I will not take that right away from the citizens of my county." He even put it in writing and told me I could quote him on it. I cannot remember the exact words without digging it up as it was years ago but that is very close. It shows his basic outlook on the overall issue.

The deputies in our county are mostly pro gun too. I have had several of them say tell me they don't care about AW's and such as long as you are otherwise law abiding.

When I first moved out into the country out here (12 years ago this month) I had an issue and the deputy that responded told me that if I did not have a gun I should get one, learn how to use it, and be ready to take care of myself because they could have a 30-45 response time. He also gave me tips to make a self defense case stronger such as putting a picket fence in the front yard with a locked gate so it was breaking and entering if someone was on my property...

Ah ok. That's pretty much what I thought the answer was, Thanks

I have a buddy that applied on April 5 of this year and got his Livescan bumped up to April 15. The Livescan fully cleared on July 29. This buddy of mine hasn't heard a peep from the S.O. since attending his Livescan.

I know when I went through this around this time last year it took me about 3 months. I'm just wondering if this is now normal. I'm interested to hear from folks who applied/had their Livescan around the same time as my buddy.
My buddy referenced above finally got his approval and pickup date for 1/3. He applied on April 5 and hadn't heard a peep from the Sheriff since Livescan on April 15. He had his phone interview on Dec 18 - a Sunday AM and it lasted about 10-15 min.

He was told that he should have his approval in about 3 weeks. He got the official approval on Dec 29, took his training and range qual the same week. Picking up permit on 1/3.

The above is just reference for anybody else waiting who has a similar timeline.

Anyone have a problem renewing lately with SJ Permitium? Get to the bottom of the fisrt page and it asks for initials and a signature. I do both but it just keeps saying initials must match. They do match. Teired 2 different browsers. Cant get past it. It's BS because I tried yesterday and it went past the first 2 screens then told me I had to wait because I was not within the 90 days. Now that I am, cant get past initials and signature.

They did ask if I was involved with any DV in the past. I had been (as a victim), and he wanted to know the details on that incident. I couldn't remember the exact year, but told him what I could remember and what county it had happened in, he said it was fine.

Some of the questions he had asked included if I had been involved in any situations with firearms (shootings, people brandishing etc).

He also asked if I had been in any recent auto accidents (last 2-3 years), which I thought was odd, but I guess they want to be as thorough as possible.

I have a fairly common name which is also my deceased fathers name. He wasn't the most upstanding citizen during his time and I was worried they might mistake his BS for mine, but nothing came of it.

I know someone in this county that has the same name as a cousin of theirs, incidents that had to do with the cousin came up in their CCW interview. They answered the questions and clarified it wasn't them. They were approved after they cleared things up.

Other than the time it took for the interview from my app being submitted, it was pretty smooth.
That's what I've been hearing from others. That so far it has been a smooth process according to the ones I've spoken with. Thanks for the info!
