You can bring it to the class and eat inside the class. When I went they did have a break but it was going to be later than I would have liked to eat so I ate my lunch in class. They do tell you that this is fine with them.
    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Just adding I don't know how long a 'break' you get but keep in mind if you plan on going out to get lunch the range is a bit off the road and food options are somewhat limited at Palm Ave/Kendall Dr.

          Denny's

I really don't think there's enough time in the break to walk back to your car, leave, eat, come back, and get back up the hill.
Institution is also a 25mph limit so you aren't going to be flying. It's almost 3 miles to Kendall, Google pegs it at 7 minutes, so you've got at least 14 on the road, then dealing with mid-day crowds at Waba, Burger King, or Subway.

I was able to get waba grill and come back. Was on of the first ones for the 3 gun and after packed up and went to get food. By the time I got back, they were barely about to go on break before class.

That's the only way it's going to work.... have the morning range session and afternoon class, and be in one of the first groups to shoot.

But at that point, it's more of a brunch than a lunch.

I don't think those in the morning classroom will have time.
Do you know ahead of time which class/range you have, morning or afternoon?

The way that i think it happened for my session was all the early birds were put in the classroom first and once that filled, everyone else was on the range

Not to threadjack too much, but regarding the original posts...

                  From personal experience:

                  A. Tuscaloosa County, Alabama CCW is $20 per year renewable up to 5yrs at a time ($100 buys 5yr permit). The fee covers admin costs, card printing/mailing.

                  B. SB County S.O. is comparative usury. I can understand $50 for a one time LiveScan, but the "admin & range" fees are total BS.

                  C. As an educator, I'll be d@mned to let union members and the school board HR department choose whether or not I have "good moral character". While San Bernardino may seem easy in the sense that it's not L.A., the hoops you have to jump through are too numerous and too high.

Fewer hoops than we had to jump through when the Sheriff was... umm... Rod Hoops.
During his tenure and before, we had to provide WRITTEN and telephone references to our good moral character. Of course, those people were asked for other references that could be contacted. I think it was three written and 2 telephone references. There was also, IIRC, a 12-month residency requirement before an application would be accepted.

Hoops retired and appointed McMahon, who was officially elected a year later (sitting sheriff is nearly always a shoe-in). McMahon eliminated the reference requirements, as well as the length of residency requirement.
With the elimination of the residency length requirement, it became theoretically possible for a new resident with a CCW from their previous county to apply and be approved for a permit in SB before the legal expiration of the previous permit (90 days after moving under state law, if the IA does not immediately revoke).

It was three references listed and two letters. That was left over from long before Rod Hoops. Back then there was NO range requirement and the process took some of us a matter of under 3 months from start to finish.

I believe it (reference requirements) may have been started under Sheriff Frank Bland (1954-1984).

Ok, now that I have semi-completed my CCW process, I thought I would give a timeline of how long my process was for those interested.

                          11/22/16 - Submitted online application
07/26/17 - Interview date, live scan, background check
                          12/16/17 - Range day
                          Currently awaiting CCW Card.

Range day might have been a bit sooner if I didn't have to redo my live scan. I was informed late Sept. that DOJ lost my info when it was first submitted. Hope this helps a bit with those wanting to know how long the process was.
I heard others having a 10 month turn around time. I helped a buddy of mine do the online application early Jan. 2017, and he actually had his range date November 2017. I don't know how the hell that happened, but oh well thats life. Maybe my rescan for finger printing had something to deal with it.

Congratulations; should take only 2 or 3 more weeks to get your call to pick it up.
I'm not that happy to see you - It's a gun.
