Woman to Woman & several hundred of our closest friends?
Had a bit of dilemma with carry options - I'm a long time revolver shooter, but I had to come to terms with pistols for on-body carry.
I'm recoil sensitive, so the smaller J frames don't work well for me. They just teach me how to flinch - I need to be proficient with whatever I carry. On-body carry is tough when you have a small stature & a full size revolver. For occasional purse carry, I'm going with a S&W 686+ - 2 1/2".
For on-body carry, I'm going with two Springfield XD9 - 3". My 'natural revolver grip' results in limp-wristing most other compact pistols I tried, but the XD works well for me & is concealable.
Mind me asking what you carry?Comment

San Bernardino County CCW Background Check Questions
Hi everyone, I’m in the process of getting my CCW application filled out but I have some questions about the background check. On the online application I mentioned that I had a misdemeanor trespassing conviction in 2004 that was later expunged from my record. Should I have posted this? I read online that non convictions, Including expunged or sealed cases, need not be reported since the fair credit reporting act only goes back 7 years. I’m not sure if this applies to Government, however.
Later on, when I got to the form where you list your last 10 years worth of residency, there’s a section at the bottom that asks
“have you ever been contacted, interviewed, questioned, or detained for investigation by any police department or other related enforcement agency, either as a juvenile or an adult? If any yes - write all contacts, no exceptions, and attach to application.”
Here are my specific issues:
When I was 15 years old I actually had federal agents show up at my house regarding a case they were investigating. Because of my age they later dismissed the case and no charges were ever filed. Do I need to report this on the application? How much detail do I need to put down?
When I was 19 I got into a fight with someone and he went to the police. About a week later I got a call from the police who asked me what happened. He told me the guy was not going to press charges against me, and that was it. Does this need to be reported?
For my trespassing conviction that was expunged, I actually pled down from a more serious misdemeanor. Do I need to state what I was arrested for, or can I just say trespassing? If I need to state what I was arrested for, did I screw up on the online application part? I said trespassing in the arrest section part.
Do you guys think this information will keep me from getting my application accepted?
Thank you for your helpComment

I would disclose everything, the 2 main reasons people get denied are not being residents of SB county and lying about or hiding stuff on the app. They will go over everything at the interview and make you fill out another questionnaire and it will ask again about “ANY” contacts with Law Enforcement. They do a very thorough background check. They know a lot of people have made mistakes and as long as they weren’t recent and depending on what it was you can still be issued your ccw. You lie and it’s a done deal.
Check out the San Bernardino County ccw link there’s a ton of info in there. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=352781"People sleep peacefully in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."Comment

Thanks. What should I do about the online portion of the questionnaire? Under the arrest record part I put my conviction, not what I was arrested for. Can I explain this during the interview or will they reject me before that because of this?Comment

Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Being the same frame as the double-stack 45, it is a fair bit thicker than the 9mm frames.
Here's the 26, 36, and 30 (29) compared. The 30 does feel notably thicker, but is replacing my 36 on my permit.

I went in there with a list of everything I could remember and the closest possible dates I could recall all the way back to when I was 17 (i'm 55 now). They know everything anyway and the whole thing leading up to your interview and background check is basically an integrity test the way I see it. Just do your very best to be as honest as you can and you'll be fine.
And don't break into any more houses and walk away from fights, you're an adult now.
Good luck.Buy made in USA whenever possible.Comment

Why are you going to the 30 over the 36 Rich, capacity I assume? My friend has a 30 but I've never felt it. He just got the same StealthGear holster I wear for his 30 so I just need to go try it on. I've got a G20 but it's pretty big.
I've been wearing the 43 recently over my trusty 19, the holiday goodies have invaded my space!
I need to eat less pie.

I've got a 26 as well and I've taken it to the range twice and I am not as good with it as I am with the 19 or the 43, and I don't have a holster for it so I don't think it's going to make it in the 3 gun rotation come renewal time. Several friends carry and swear by the 26.Originally posted by WASR10I used to carry a G30 (like the 29). It was as easy to conceal as a 19 to me, just a little heavier. I'm on the bigger side and could even pocket carry it with the right pants. I carry a G26 now only because I'm more accurate and quicker on follow up shots with 9mm, but wouldn't hesitate to carry a G30 size pistol again.Buy made in USA whenever possible.Comment
