    Ya, capacity.
A G30S would be awesome, but are unicorns in California. Of course, I could swap my G36 slide and barrel onto the G30 frame, but I have a feeling the county would not appreciate that, if only because of the conflicting serial numbers.

My EDC is and will remain the Shield loaded with 9rds. I've never carried the G26, and it is being replaced with the P380 for when dress dictates pocket carry or the printing is more of a concern.
I've carried the G36 on occasion when wearing heavier clothing, and in those cases, the difference between the G36 and G30 would not make a difference in concealability.

Spend a few hours wearing your friend's 30 and see how it feels.

What if you order new ones from Glock with no serial numbers?

I was told that I should be able to buy the smaller 220 carry slide and barrel and put it on my standard 220 with no problem.

Except for the fact that I didn't list my 220 on my permit, but if I had......

      Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

It's really not that important, no more often than I carry it and with the small difference in slide width. Just saying that it would be nice.

        When I move to a free state, I'll get a 30S

MY EDC is a G30 and I love it. I carry it in an Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.0 and I am very comfortable with it. Great gun and easy to conceal!

The information provided on this thread has helped me immensely. A number of regular contributors generously take the time to keep the thread going by answering questions and by providing both information and encouragement. They don't need to do this - they already have their CCWs - but they take the time to help those of us just now going through the process.

My post was to simply acknowledge the help I received from these contributors. I find it unfortunate & somewhat sad that your world view of proper CCW attitude & behavior does not include thanking those folks that helped you.

So again, a big thank you to all the regular contributors to this thread!
Just ignore the mean folks. If you sift through the macho bluster common to gun sites, you will find great info here. You can pretty much always bank on what Librarian has to say...others, proceed with caution.

Congrats on your pursuit. And this is a pretty good place to learn what to expect.

Thanks, and you're right, I've learned a lot on sites like Calguns, Firing Line, etc. But its a lot like what I hear on the range - some good advice & some not so good....

I had to go back to SBSD yesterday for a redo of my fingerprints - their system rejected my first set. Guess that means the background check is just now starting - oh well, what's a couple of weeks more or less?

So I have my range date this Saturday and curios how you guys took took your firearms, ammo, etc. when it's time to qualify? Did you use individual cases, range bag, or combination of both? Just figuring how I should pack everything up, was planning on in individual cases for my 3 firearms then my range bag for ammo, ear protection, and eye protection. Or should I put it all in the range bag and lock the zipper?

I have a range box that holds my guns and ammo. I took that.

I brought a single range bage with all 3, mags ammo, eyes, & ears.

You have to bring your pistols and loaded mags (you load them there, not before!) to the line, so you don't want a million cases and bags....

Thanks guys. Figured cases and bag was a bit too much. So just need to lock the zipper on the range bag for it to be ok?

Yes, just use a range bag and lock the zipper. I actually loaded my mags before and had no problem, of course I only had factory ammo with me.

It is quite a walk from the main parking lot, at devore, to the range so pack light. They did allow us to park up there, but there are limited spaces.

At the line, you place the bag in front of the line, between you and the target. Make sure you can easily grab what you need from the bag, safely.

The range and classroom portion is a breeze.

I have a quick question regarding lunch/food. I know you are supposed to bring food/lunch, but do you bring it to the classroom or do they break for lunch and you go to your car to get your food?

The issue with loaded mags is they will need an empty mag for the inspection since many guns have mag disconnects.

If you have 3 mags per gun, bring them all, feel free to load up two mags with 5rds each.
